Knowing the realities of the world and how men behave has resulted in me enjoying my media less than I would have. In these fictional universes, everyone gets along pretty decently, but you know if it were reality, some of the men would be raping people and cheating on their spouses and abusing children. At best the men and boys would still be causing some kind of destruction, even if it wasn't that severe. I used to be kind of disgusted that authors like GRR Martin and others were always writing terrible things happening to female characters, but they're just being honest about the realities of what would happen if these fictional worlds were like our own. I still am going to enjoy my media, but it is just a thought I had while seeing this little peaceful society in one of my games, where men and women built and are enjoying something nice, knowing the reality would be quite different.
