I've been thinking lately how women are the selectors, and yet a lot of men have this idea that they are the prize. I've been wondering why that is. Sometimes it can feel that this is true because there are so few good men that it does seem like getting a good one is winning the lottery. But could it be because the only time men actually do the self-work to be good partners, or even control themselves to be decent human beings, is when they do it for women in their lives? Unless they are just conditioned that way by their parents (i.e. their mother). So they become an actually decent human being, to be selected by a woman, and somehow that turns into them thinking they are the prize? Because they were finally selected. Maybe men are the true pickmes.

I try not to just hate men so much these days, but they always do some stupid shit, and I can't help it. I'm sure I had more to this thought, but it's fleeting now.

I also think about animals in the wild. Males are sometimes kicked out of the group once they reach a certain age (elephants) leaving groups with just women and children. I'm going to trust the instincts of elephants, who are wiser than plenty of idiot humans alive today, to understand something inherent about malehood that we do not.

Yes, but with caveats. The religion mostly only cares about men, but women are the deciding factor for whether a child belongs to the religion or not. Other than that we mostly appear in contexts like "when is she icky to be around" and "determining the value of a girl so you don't accidentally marry your son to the dregs of society". In practical terms women are in charge of most household decisions, but legally speaking the man of the house holds ultimate authority. All the significant religious functions are also filled by men.
