The modern internet meme is essentially a picture with a caption, like a newspaper cartoon. For maximum impact, the caption should ideally not be article-length. An illustrated article might be more impactful than an article with no illustrations, but a cartoon serves its purpose better when you use as little text as possible to convey your point.

I'm not being anti-intellectual here, since I do enjoy reading articles and essays. I just don't think mini-essays should go inside memes, since their inclusion often necessitates zooming in on small text, and generally decreases the effectiveness of the medium.

Edit: Not disagreeing with text-heavy memes being typical human behavior, btw. I think it's a good point, even if I dislike said memes.

One thing I don't get, which I think might have something to do with it, is why the people who always opt to defend the men seemingly feel the need to imagine themselves personally involved in every situation and have to take everything as a personal attack. When a guy faces allegations of rape or pedophilia, for whatever reason there's always these people who somehow make it a matter of "women are gonna ruin men's lives and careers" rather than, in most cases, someone just facing the consequences of their actions? I find it weird for anyone to at all sympathize with the rapist or pedophile.

On a less serious note, I never really looked into it but I similarly don't get why, in the case of the Tea thing, if we're going with the narrative that it's just some shitty app for fat chicks to talk about the loser guys they dated, people were getting so heated over how it affects men. It's the same as academics saying that people back then did not view certain behaviors tied to lgbtq as homosexual as we do in modern day.
