A decent amount of people on both ends who cannot handle simple disagreement simultaneously want to be able to have their own safe-space to talk about how much they hate men/women where the other side (or even people from the same side who aren't as extreme as them) is immediately banned, but also want to be able to go into the other side's space, start arguments and fling shit everywhere without consequence.

Some absolute retards really cannot handle the idea of simply just ignoring and not reading threads about things they don't like or things that make them mad at the internet. It's not even exclusive to gender-war shit. They had to split up the Russia-Ukraine war thread because both sides kept causing drama and engaging in shitflinging about whose impoverished European state is better, and pretty much any political thread or thread about a political lolcow that slants one way has to deal with occasional retards from the other side wandering in and throwing a tantrum.
Even outside of the DMZ & Thunderdome, you'll get retards that walk into a lolcow thread involving a certain group, and write a huge a-logging wall of text about how much they dislike said group and how awful they are. Pretty much any thread involving a LGBT, Jewish or vocally Christian lolcow has to deal with people wandering in and going "grrr i hate those fucking faggots/kikes/christcucks"

Impossible. Kiwifarms (like many other internet forums) is modeled after a Longhouse. The vast majority of interaction between any users can be seen by any other users, everybody's social standing (reaction score) can be seen by anybody. This is why the culture here favors moral policing so much; if what I said wasn't the case and there were no reaction scores, stickers, pink triangles, etc. it would be more difficult to conduct this.
My point of saying this is that everybody that participated in the new "tranny safe space thread" would immediately be identified and actively discouraged from participating almost anywhere else on the site due to the culture here. They already have safe spaces all over the entire Internet, so why don't they just use those?
