it's possible and in fact pretty easy, just tell your normie "friends" to install that other "app" and make some account on a random public homeserver (or give them one on yours).
i successfully converted over 50 people from proprietard platforms such as pisscord or telegram into matrix freetards, and the funniest thing is that i didn't even have to use any of those directly because bridges exist.
a good friend wouldn't let his friends use proprietary shitware, and a true friend would follow his friend to a freedom respecting chat protocol/platform/whatever if asked to. if your so called 'friends' aren't even willing to spend 5 minutes to figure out how matrix works, are they really your friends, and how much time are you worth to them?

Okay, so there are chanwars in Matrix, so what?
I've set up multiple Matrix homeservers already and have collected my own list of troon instances. These were mostly experimental and I had no real community support as you can imagine.
The number of gay/nigger/jew/woke/troon/etc. instances is overwhelming and we need counterintelligence. Someone has to remind them daily that they will never be women and so on, a duty instance should operate 24/7.

This said, I can create an unnoficial, KW-friendly Matrix instance myself. I have continued business relationship with private VPS and domain vendors, Tor and Monero for anti-swatting protection, industry grade administration skills for keepin the server alive, budget and time to offer my service for the community for free. After the instance gets defeated (only happened to me with unreliable vendors in the past), I simply reiterate under another account, the instance may change a name but will be restored.

The only things I need to begin with are:

• An interesting Instance name + domain name (different TLDs have different costs, let's say I'd like to stay within $30/y limit).
• A group of 10+ people that are willing to commit to: register on the instance, visit it daily, participate in discussions on federated rooms, conform to security guidelines.
• The preferred registration method – I think I'll just create a limited-use registration code and post it here, keeping the registration closed otherwise.
• Some room/space ideas, preferrably some room admins that would furnish the instance, letting me focus on the technical backbone of the server.
• A level of agreement on what the instance will or will not do. For example, we don't need to advertise KF in Matrix, but we can (I see arguments for both ways).
