It is exceptionally bad among youtubers nowadays, who use irony as a wet cardboard shield against criticism "ha ha, my joke is unfunny, and now I'm gonna completely derail the flow of the video to bring awkward silence to really emphasize how bad that pun was. Isn't it hilarious you guys?".

I'm so fucking sick of this trope. Being sincere is a cool and an admirable trait to have, it helps you being taken seriously. It's such a simple fix that can substantially improve many videos.

I agree and I get where OP is coming from even though his post failed to elaborate. It's one thing for one-off dumb jokes on a forum or something of the like but you see people trying to produce serious works while simultaneously pussyfooting around it like "haha, jk I was only pretending to be retarded... unless? hhaha just trolling you guys"
