I didn't learn about conditions like PCOS and endo til I was an adult, from other women who had those conditions. They sure as fuck don't teach anything about that in school (probably because it would mean teaching birth control can help manage that shit).

This is the shit I was told in my sex ed class and this was less than 20 years ago. I think even back then as a kid I was shocked, and it made me terrified to start menstruating. Well it turns out that I had endometriosis courtesy of my mother’s side and had to go through hell and back to get a Doctor to actually take my pain seriously, test me and give me the diagnosis. It’s disgusting how the medical establishment disregards women. If you complain about your pain you’re either just expected to deal with it, or you’re politely called a hysteric and told to get over it. I feel like we can’t fucking win. Thankfully I am a medfag now and am doing my damndest to advocate for women and girls who are suffering from gynecological conditions. Feels good to be part of the slow-turning tide towards taking women’s health seriously.

I grew up reading a great sex ed book called It’s Perfectly Normal that went into the functions of sex, reproduction, and puberty without getting pornographic. It was straight-to-the-point and informative.

Well now the authors did a second addition, apologizing for their “outdated gender norms” of the first book and filled the second edition with tranny nonsense and how external appearance doesn’t reflect a person’s gender, plus a whole section about adolescence and puberty blockers (you can guess their stance on the matter). I’m so disgusted that this is the direction sex Ed is going. The rot really has permeated all aspects of education.

I think I've mentioned it before but sex ed in 8th grade also told us women have no sex drives of their own and have sex solely to bond emotionally with their moid (they weren't allowed to talk about gay people in any capacity).

this isn't related to the current topic but i needed to get it off my chest before i explode: why the fuck are there advertisements for peyronie disease treatments when endometriosis is barely discussed in women's healthcare, let alone taken seriously by more than a fraction of doctors who don't just blow it off as normal period pain until testing proves otherwise? why is national daytime television airtime used to talk about bent pp's when i personally know three different women who had endo, with two that underwent hysterectomies in early adulthood because it was so severe?

Whatever version I secretly read in the early 1990s was fine; I think it was the "new" one but not sure which.

The Hesperian Foundation's Where Women Have No Doctor is pretty good for practical advice, but it's got less nitty-gritty pathophysiology and a lot of digression into miscellaneous stuff like TB and preventing infectious diarrhea. I think the idea was that if they could only get one book into female community leaders' hands, better to fit everything in. It's written and illustrated for the third world so word choice is simple. However, it's written for people facing real sex-based oppression, so it doesn't borrow any "gender" BS.
