Can someone do me a favor, if you see @dspike on station could you tell him that he needs to log in to the site proper for some Secret Santa related shit? He's not been here in a week and I need him to respond to a pm preferably today if possible lol.

Appreciated.

So what's up with Goonstation anyways? It seems like other than their solarium thing and their secret chems, they're a much shittier version of TGstation.
Goon is the anti-/tg/:
/tg/station started strong (by ripping the goonstation codebase and tailoring it to anons, obviously), and has gotten progressively worse BUT the playerbase tends to be lively and fun to interact with, and the admins are less stuffed up. Now it's been invaded by soft-skinned troons on both fronts, but places like Kiwifarms can still snag the codebase and make SS13 fun to play again by just excising those people and the retarded changes they've made over the years, because it's open source. Good players, progressively worse game.
As slow and as painful a process as that actually is.
Goonstation started strong (by building the game from the ground up for autistic goons), and has only ever gotten better, with incredibly fun to use features, actually cool gimmicks, cycling out fun antag modes without concern for muh balance, their coders are top notch and absolutely refuses to allow in unfunny retards- BUT you have to play with goons, on a server staffed by goons. It's closed source, too, so you can't even take the goon out of the station, unless they have one of their triannual code leaks.
Yeah. Awful players, progressively better game.
If you think they're "shittier" on first glance, it's probably due to the lack of certain newer """features""" like the overhauled lighting (ss13 is supposed to be pretty, not playable!), but after spending some time on it you'll realize that you don't miss them at all- if you can tolerate goons long enough to spend time on it, I mean. It's a tall ask.

Is anyone maintaining a decent repository of mostly-2015 /tg/? I know 8chan had a painstakingly maintained /tg/'s 2015-2016 featureset before that entire cabal of sites died, but I don't know if it's still going (on account of that entire cabal of sites, well, dying.) The most recent one seems to preserve it up to at least 2018, but I'm not sure if anyone took up the torch.

If shitty griefers can't roll assistants they'll take up engineer and doctor and security slots and then be shitty griefers anyway.

Exactly. I'd argue that the whole purpose of having the assistant role is to softly filter shitters & the lazy from roles that actually matter, and merging them with clowns would just ruin the latter role. Nah, removing assistants is a tgtranny solution to a greater problem, which'll just punish the greater playerbase for the actions of a few -- no offense to Dr W.

There IS a problem with griefers, but we'd need a cleaner solution to mitigate it (and it's unrealistic to assume we can ever 100% eliminate them). Maintaining solid communication between members and admemes, both in-game and on Kiwi, will allow us to slowly ban out the most egregious of the lot. For the guys who ban evade and stay on us like flies to shit, maybe we should adopt something similar to an ideal company anti-piracy strategy: Make it easier for them to not mess with us than it is for them to continue messing with us. The real shitheads are on Kiwi because they've been kicked out of everywhere else, right? We should keep them shuffling and lead them to the next server to shit up. Keep eyes open for new servers - probably with a more milkable reddit/furry audience - and paint them as a more desirable target for fucking around. Talk about those servers, drop their addresses, so on. Beat griefers with the ban stick and offer the carrot of fresh tears.

Slobbermuitt is a faggot by the way. Last night I saw his corpse in the hallway, and splashed some strange reagent on him to revive. What I didn't know is that SS13 was built on the pet cemetery, and what came back was a demon from the beyond. He immediately attacked me, and almost killed me. I managed to crawl to medbay, but only because he got distracted mauling a random ligger to death.

If I remember right /tg/ did an experiment where they removed assistants temporarily and this happened.

I use the permaban. You know why? Cause the perma doesn't expire, and unlike the shitty roleban it stops a criminal in their tracks in two clicks. Click, click, and they're fucking done. I use four clicks just to make damn sure. Because, once again, I'm not there to coddle a buncha criminal scum sucking f-----, I'm there to 1) Moderate the fucking round. 2) Guard my tranny metagang. So you can absolutely get fucked. If I don't get deadminned, which I will, you can guarantee I will continue to use the permaban to apprehend criminals. Because it's quick, clean and effective as fuck. Why in the seven hells would I fuck around with the notes system, which take half a minute just to leave an admin warning, or with role bans which are short as balls, impossible to fill out and do about next to jack shit, fuck all. The permaban is the superior law enforcement weapon. Because it stops crime. And it stops crime by reducing the number of criminals roaming the fucking halls.

>SM is all set ready to go
>forget to turn off the coolant bypass
>all my work undone as a singular emitter causes a nuetron-star level radiation tritium fire
>have to sprint all the way down to the very south of fucking aux engineering just to get a water tank to try and put out this fire with a plain extinguisher after burning through all the thermo-extinguishers even with the emitters off
>tell the engineer to run as the SM reaches the final countdown
>step into 3 tesla anomalies at once
>the madman actually tries to save me and gets sucked in by a grav anomaly as it all blows up

@Null Can we get a firefoam tank, not water, but actual firefoam placed on the map in the north of atmos where it can actually be reached in a critical meltdown in a reasonable amount of time? The nearest tank of PLAIN water is three goddamn screens away.
For item ref, one tank of firefoam can be ordered via cargo.

@Null I'm not sure where I should report this, but I noticed a few minor things that should probably be fixed
1) The chef doesn't have botany access for some reason
2) The kitchen's air alarm is located on top of one or the griddles, making it impossible to use
3) The chef doesn't have access to the door to the kitchen

I'd make a separate thread, but SOMEONE revoked my thread-making privileges
This should be fixed and Chef/Botany should be accessible regardless of population.
