If I had the money I'd run a goon based server.
Issue is that it's kiwifarms based server so expect a shit ton of bullshit like getting hacked.
Apparently Citadel (ERP server) actually managed to get atmos offloaded to a program that could mutithread? So others tell me.

thoughts of all spessmen, what do you think ruined goonstation?

I tried playing their station and though they may have "the best code" they don't have the best people anymore. Playing on another station the question pops up ooc "Can I say nigger here?" most people answer "yeah why faggot?" and typically most people who want to play just want the idea of saying whatever they want.

I typically play the role of my job and put odd twists to it everytime because of the "yes and... " roleplay attitude. Make SS13 great again. Total tranny banishment to all gay furry servers. Give me comfy stations and great people anyday than goonstation bullshit.

It would be DDOS'ed and blacklisted and completely fucked over. No reasonable person has the time or hardware needed to host a full-time public server, not even Josh. Maybe you can get away with a private one or one that is up at select times. Everyone fun to be around has been disenfranchised or trooned out. Also, from what I see before me, there are no more /tg/ codebase LRP servers.

Trannies (And Oranges) ruined tg station something fucking chronic; absolute waste of a fun game so weird sex pervs can LARP. The worst part now is that the games drag, and drag, and drag. I don't mind the odd 2-3 hour round; but it's literally every fucking time now on med-high pop, and on lowpop like basil? Fucking forget about it, all day rounds. 5-6 hours a time. Because nothing happens anymore. All the organic interaction has been ripped out the fucking game.

"We changed cargo so the ORM doesn't need upgrading, so miners don't rely on science" Nigger the point was so they DID rely on science! It's why botany can't access chemistry, why security can't print off laser rifles, why engineering requires R&D to get better power gennies. The point of the game, is to make every need each other; so that the limited communications, and low social IQ of every player grinds the station into absolute chaos and destruction, with everyone at each others throats. The driver of the game is conflict and friction. Not 'uWu I'm a moff teheheheh! Call me flutterbyegirl!'

There's a distinct moment when SS13 died, it's the moment when they removed reworked the combat and made traitor objectives.

Sure it's not fun when a changeling comes out of maints, stuns you and drags you without you being able to react... But having its claw deal measly 5% of your health as damage is just shit. A lot of people can just scream into the mics and the entire station will validhunt you. Sure it makes combat more 'engaging' but SS13 combat was never meant to be 'engaging', it needs to be quick and dirty so you can't call for help.

As for traitors, it doesn't make sense that a supposed syndicate traitor just wants to peacefully take out the station, with an arsenal of explosives and bombs at their disposal. Why should any traitor not murderbone if they so desire? Cause one robust traitor can murder an entire station? That's the fucking fun of it. If people die too much call an ERT.

Too many tranny sissies in SS13 only wanna cosplay moff, and don't wanna die or have people disturb them from doing their autistic slime minigame then stroking off as they show their golden slime extracts. These were never the focus of the game. Like you said, the focus was people interaction. There's no point in it if the traitors don't pose a threat.

But yea I'd be down for a KF gettogether on Hippie. Hippie averages 5 players so they won't mind. It will be a one time thing so Null won't have to do anything.

I want @Null to confirm he can/is willing to feature it on front page so we get as many people as possible in there.

Unfortunately, I think Null's a bit too busy at the moment to worry about autistic spacemans.
 
vgstation is pretty good, still has a good foothold in the old chans.
Sadly I can't play on linux because TGUI >:(

Ehhh The Goon of a decade ago paled in comparison to what it was in 2002. I got in trouble with Goon Station back in 2011 when I first started playing SS13 due to one of my names being "Nigston" of all things. Immediately switched over to /tg/ and played the game up until the Sethhtide in 2019 which coincided with the trooning of /tg/ started to go into high gear.
 
And I don't think anybody has mentioned this yet...

There are people out there (mostly outside onlookers of SS13) who genuinely think SS14 is a successor platform for SS13. Meanwhile it has a troon logo when booting it up and nothing but Russian servers.
Whenever someone says the SS13 community isn't infested with troons and its an exaggeration; just assume they too may be a troon.

I have never gotten banned from an SS13 server.

I have even dodged mod actions I clearly deserved, like killing an SSD'd greytide by throwing him into disposals, breaking into disposals, then catapulting him off station just because I could, then getting bwoinked 10 minutes later about it, to which I just went full "plausible deniability" and claimed I didn't know the Assistant was mixed in with the trash when I was ejecting it from the station, I was just trying to be a diligent Cargo Tech. I got let off with advice to simply double-check disposals next time.

There was a cult round once on /tg/ that was nearly on the verge of a cult victory until some retard decided to relocate the base to the abandoned satellite, which had no atmos or oxygen, and he just kept continually spawning artifices and nobody realized a teleport rune was down, so we all kept telling the guy to fucking move the spawn elsewhere since we couldn't get to the station and every time we spawned, we were just slowly dying from lack of atmos, which he wouldn't do, and would not indicate where the teleport rune was located. So, I made an attempt to just end things and attacked the cultie who wasn't listening, putting him into crit. I got bwoinked a couple of minutes later, explained the situation to the admin, the admin proceeded to point out the teleport rune – which I argued nobody else noticed either – but let me off with a warning and a note about committing friendly fire on another antagonist out of frustration.

Only time I was actively threatened with a ban was on /tg/ a few years ago, and it was for using the name of a "famous or noteworthy person IRL". Except it was a name I had been using on the server for more than 6 months prior to receiving the threat for action, and it was also a name I just arbitrarily came up with by trying to make up the most generic sounding name I could think of. I literally had no idea it was the same name as some Senate attorney who had suddenly become newsworthy at the time for some bullshit involving Trump, which was something I didn't even remotely know about until I got threatened by this admin. I explained all of these factors to the admin. The admin said he didn't care, even though I suggested that he could check my ckey and logs to see that I was using this name well before [current events] in order to corroborate my story, he demanded that I change it or I'd eat a ban. So I changed it to the next most generic name I could think of while hoping some other random fuck on God's green earth didn't also share the name and become newsworthy.
