Official Space Station 13 Server

Say "Ligger" over the radio and see what happens.
Nah, the admins will tell you that ligger is allowed. They've decided not to go after insults that have become a part of SS13 lore. Their only gripe is bringing contemporary politics to the game. Right-wing politics in particular.

Personally I think if they don't want right-wing politics, then they should remove the blatant left-wing politics from the game. You can't put blatant political statements in your game and expect people not to respond.

I've noticed that space station 14 has added some old and some new things to the game "terminators and borgs," which does give me hope that eventually they will be in a really good playable state at some point in the future.

There was a bit of a stirrup a few years ago or so regarding using "ligger" IIRC but I guess that camp eventually got filtered and shut the fuck up. Thank goodness, some little nugget of joy out of the pile of shit.

You know, I saw some videos on SS14 and noticed you can try it right on steam. I launch it and..

permanent tranny flags. Call me late, but how long have these been here?

Is it possible to just use the open source code for this bullshit and rebuild it into something like interstation instead of /tg/?
I know nothing about code and I feel that is part of the issue. No sane person is going to pic up this project for free considering all the shit involved with it. People who want to make anything sane don't have the time to make their own custom server. Fucking 8moe can't even get a server going again that isn't just someone else's code with no changes.

Be the change you want to see! Remove every single tranny and homo thing. Rename meatballs to faggots, make the securitrons tell george floyd jokes, add +NIGGER to the license.

I could take it and re host it if you want but nobody plays on my shit when I do that, seriously just say the word nigger

I'd absolutely play it every now and then. But all I can do is sit here and cope and seethe that I cannot run SS13 on Linux.

TBH if thats the only reason for ss14 I'd rather you just run a VM or something, at which point I can host my fork (which is ss13 and not 14)

I recommend just getting an OEM windows disk (can be like 30 dollars on ebay) and installing it on oracle virtualbox or something like that, usually works okay

Yes. Unfortunately few people are autistic enough to do that. Even @Null lacked the autism necessary to do that.

OpenDream will allow running SS13 natively on Linux, but progress on that is slow. Right now a VM is your only choice, or you can play around with Wine and see if you can get lucky.

WINE isn't really possible, they moved past internet explorer to a version of edge that doesn't work on WINE for the time being (for purposes of their text chat and interactive html thingies). Simply cannot be done until WINE moves forward.

It would actually be a huge amount of additional work to get an SS14 mirror up, they have their own whole hub and crap (my own hub server and a bunch of authentication and so on would need to be stood up before I even got to host an ss14 server), plus its a whole bunch of trooncode to unravel (unknown difficulty level). If at least one person is actually super attached to ss14 and says its way better that might be worth it, but if its just linux compatibility related then please just use a VM, thats what I do. You could even probably install a demo version of windows and get one up for free.

I had a VM before and it worked very well, but I couldn't justify it because it took up so much disk space for only a single program.

I have elected to re-host my own fork (which is based on rather old timey code). The most interesting feature I ever coded was that I totally re-wrote classic blob to be much more runtime efficient, so it can now cover the whole station and still have acceptable performance (on the old VPS anyways, the new one seems to have a bit less power). The blobs also piggy back on movement code to detect obstacles, and will roll attacks against them to batter them down, so you can now put up barricades to slow the blob down and that will actually work as expected based on the HP of the obstacles. Finally, the blob was spreading a little too fast, so firelocks now have a 'bloblock' mode that will automatically engage to try to impede its progress.

Basically what I am saying is, if you want to see something new, play blob mode. As this is just to have a bit of fun I will add anyone who asks to admins.txt so they can utilize admin powers to do whatever.

I suggest having scheduled uptime to concentrate pop. I'll give it a try if anyone else shows interest. Mind linking to the codebase? Am curious what you use.

Scheduled times might be a good idea, not really sure what a good time would be. I kindof want to scrub the source code before I share it but could conceivably do that.

I meant the codebase you used, or is it custom? MATI times are always a good bet.
