It's sad because it got the important stuff right: it runs on Linux, it runs smoothly. But when building the game, it all fell apart for the reasons you know. I think it didn't have to. The open source world in general is mad now. If you saw the NixOS stuff, some of the SS14 maintainers were also NixOS maintainers. Many of the SS14 PMs participate in the crazy Mastodons involved in that, or the recent LadyBird fight. So it feels like there is nowhere to go if you like writing for open source.

Even the "opposition" for SS14 are still places that are >50% trans, where you cannot say "retard." I don't even demand nigger spam like the old days, I want a server where you can play a construction worker and talk like a construction worker.

I do like ss14, and have been playing it since a lot of ss13 servers are dogshit but, with ss14 I can play with friends far more easily . However, moderation is more retarded than ss13. I have to play along with 80 percent of the playerbase being addicted jack monkeys whenever I see another unique fursona that "totally isn't what I jack off to I swear."


Needless to say, I've been perma-banned several times, and use many alts. I believe many servers encourage admins to be as anal about the rules as possible as they leave notes for anything just so they can get a promotion. This might be a player issue as they are often get mad if you ruin their troonplay in anyway even slightly against the status-quo.


Even then, playing on servers that are slightly less troubled with admins (RMC-14 being more combat focused) still has admins that are very interconnected which means that most big servers are ruled by the same few people. Which means I deal with creeps, and insane troonery whenever I play a game. (Not to mention DrSmugLeaf the animal fucker himself being the owner of RMC-14.)

So, here are political messages that get spammed when you download a game on SS14. (Archive)

I remember before, they used to have "Free Palestine." It looks like they removed that one but only that one. I do have a secondhand image of the old list, but no archive, sorry. It's really interesting they have decided to remove just that one from the list.

There's an old PR where they disabled the ability to turn off this messages with the reason that "kowtowing to bigots lets them win." But guess who can make them kowtow?

This is the real curse of SS13, all the developers who try to make the next gen SS13 become hunchbacked troons.
Friendly reminder one of the head devs has like an essay-length F-list account that previously had plenty of "Youth" focused fetishes before it got publicized.

Another kiwi posted his degeneracy a few pages back.

Here is a branch of SS14 with its own launcher and etc run by people formerly fucked over by the powertroons over at wizden/mainline SS14 who have iterated on the game significantly since. It might be cool to create a kiwi exclusive branch using this sanitized edition.

SSMV is okay, but only because the difference we want is for the person running it to do almost nothing, which makes whoever is at the head not matter that much. Let's just say it's good you can use SSMV and not have to think too much about its operator.
