This may be a really dumb question , but is there any way to adjust any display settings to help increase my FPS? It could also just be lag since my ping is hovering at around 300 right now. Any chance it'll get better with a better ping or am I doomed to choppiness?

Having a lot of fun in service roles. I was enjoying the LARP as the local alcohol vendor so much that I didn't even mind when someone barged in the back door and lit me on fire with a flamethrower.

I spawned some cats cuz everyone was dead.

I might give this a try. Been playing SS13 since 2009. First on Goonstation until 2011, then on /tg/ until as of late. /tg/ has become awfully shit in the past few years taking away more fun stuff and replacing it with baystation tier garbage along with a change in staff and coderbase (see:trannies)

Ok, so what's the best codebase, in your opinion? Is it still /tg/, despite the tranny changes?

If you were to add any species, greys would be the only one that sound fun and not for furries.

You can try to reduce your ping by using several methods:
  • Switch off absolutely ANYTHING on your desktop that might be remotely using any of the bandwith
  • Ensure you have a stable connection to your router/cable/whatever
  • Don't use any VPN's or Proxy's when playing the game. (Assuming you like being vunerable)
If you join the server, you can go to 'setup character', go towards 'preferences' and fiddle with the following settings:
  • Disable parallax scrolling (A.K.A Fancy S P A C E)
  • You see that FPS box with a '-1' in it? Change it either to 20 or 0
  • You can disable whatever sounds like it may be guzzling your bandwith here
If all else fails, the time comes to take drastic action:
  • While in a lobby, check the tabs to the north-east of the screen and go to 'preferences' (I believe)
  • Disable sounds/OOC/music/whatever
  • Enjoy playing a mutilated SS13
These suggestions would hopefully reduce your ping to playable levels.

Those TV-head guys are kinda cool. Having a race that has to go to the roboticist for healing instead of the medbay is interesting for gameplay.
