Old Games/Games You Miss

Where I am from, there were literally no shops that sold NES games. You'd have to purchase as many as you could whenever you go to Florida.

Except for that game. For some reason, a particular store had the Ducktales game for sale.

The "Lunar" games stick out in my mind. Working Designs did a fantastic and playful job with the translations, though mechanically, the game is a standard contemporary JRPG.

Anyone remember this masterpiece of wanton destruction?

There was a sequel in the works way back when, but I think it got canned for being too violent. The toys were awesome, too. I would throw so much money at a modern sequel for this game.

I also miss the Road Rash games. Supposedly there's a 'spin-off' game being made? I don't know. But I just loved Road Rash. Last one I played was Jailbreak.

I miss the Jojo Fashion Show series. Sure the third one (World Tour) was a massive disappointment, but I think this little casual game (where you're a fashion designer) could've kept going. Yes, I like casual games.

Heh, back in the day, there were always weird rumors about games. You never knew if it's a hoax or not, because there was no internet to check. I remember there was one about Primal Rage that if you juggled a human between the two fighters for a while, a volleyball net would pop up.
Turns out it was true (go to 1:00)

Those pre-internet days were pretty tough to find any of this out (unless you had BBS or were involved in a newsletter or 'zine).

My clearest gaming memories don't go back any farther than the Toy Story game on the Sega Genesis, which I still am kinda feeling intrigued that I forgot about having for so long. Another game I remember playing is this Star Wars X-Wing game. I can't remember what the title was, but it was seen from the perspective from the cockpit. However, after that my Dad got an Xbox, and we had such games as Halo, Spiderman, and a neat little franchise called Blinx, the Time Sweeper. Shortest lifespan for a console mascot, it seems. Never managed to beat his first game, a problem that seems to have been a major problem for a lot of people, I think.

Contra

I can go emu it, but I actually own a cart of the Famicom version with pretty animated backgrounds and it's just not the same after I got spoiled on that. And it's buried in storage at my parents' so it may as well not exist.

You can thank Nintendo for clamping down on what third party companies can put into their games since they manufactured those cartridges themselves for the US (In Japan it was another story).

As far as I've heard in this case it was because the Japanese version came out some months later and they were able to do some improvements. Castlevania 3 is the one that got neutered because chips are expensive.

Oh well, shame we don't get the blowing palms.

Starlancer, god damn I love that game. All the Wing Commander games are on GoG so I can replay those but god do I miss Starlancer.
