Old Roblox Nostalgia Thread - Before Roblox became the central hub for online gaming degeneracy.

Ever since I got scammed on Roblox late last year. I refused to do anything with Roblox other than a select few Nostalgia games on a nothing to lose account. Roblox is a very risky game to play but the other engines are even more buggy than Roblox itself. Anyways. Super Nostalgia Zone and Retroblox are some of the best ways to relive Old Roblox.

I don't know what game is in the screenshot but I just noticed what appears to be a VIP/Build area in the background like at the end of an obby and I got hit in the feels HARD.
Those red and blue boxes probably aren't givers but my neurons zoned in on them.

I remember how old Roblox's games just had simple premises yet were endless fun.

I remember playing a game that was simply about destroying other people's different colored planes and making them fall with RPGs or slingshots.

Although I do remember an early example of weirdness it had where people made games about getting into a Minecart and being eaten by random cartoon characters like spongebob.

I feel like the first step of Roblox's greed leading to its downfall was the removal of tickets.

There's nothing more fun than single-handedly collapsing an enemy's tower on Doomspire and watching them fall to their deaths.

Good times.

That is actually what I miss the most in old ROBLOX: you could hop on any game and enjoy it immediately due to their simplicity.

Nowadays you can't even try a new game without being told to grind for hundreds of hours to unlock X feature that actually makes it enjoyable. Unlike the old days where you could play anything for.30 mins, hop off, and hop on again a week later and still have a blast.

I think I haven't truly tried a new ROBLOX Game since 2021, and whenever I feel that I should, I get bombarded by daily quests, daily login rewards, level requirements, ranking system... and then I just go back playing Survive the Disasters while having fun with it.

I think that's a notable feature of old games, even if they were shit you'd waste like a few minutes at most on some mediocre copy and paste game.
Dunno, i do a game design adjacent study and one of the veteran designers that works there as lecturer told me that his kids play roblox and he really dislikes how a lot of the games they and their friends play are very clearly just engaging enough to keep their attention and make them spend time, which in turn gives the builder their kickbacks.
Before monetization became a widespread thing it really was just a bunch of people making something in studio and putting it out for others to enjoy (and maybe get them to buy some t-shirts and later gamepasses to spend on hats and whatnot).

Absolutely, I remember the early 2010s Roblox there's always new games to play, whatever it may be such as a tycoon game, pvp game, obby (yes, even those "finish this obby to find out who killed X?"), zombie survival, build to survive, etc. The game you played yesterday would be at a low player count and another new game will take its place at the homepage, it was so consistent that it felt fresh each day and as a kid I would be overjoyed getting on the computer and seeing what's new.

finish this obby to find out who killed X?
Fuck. I can't remember who killed Ed Edd n Eddy!
"Who killed you?" was pretty good and a bit creepy. It was more of a point and click adventure though.

There's still silly games on roblox that are made with passion and the unhindered creative vision of an autistic 16 year old, personal favorite of mine would be the noobs vs zombies games, especially realish reborn which is the scrappiest team PvP game i've ever played but it just kind of works because of how silly it is.

<--- Fan trailer, shows a bunch of the gameplay.
