That's not the only one. After a bit of trolling happened, Jmods disabled another Halloween item's effect.

There's also a gay dwarf southeast of the barbarian village that gives out the pride cosmetics who you aren't allowed to light fires near. The amount of cleaning up the Jmod jannies have to do to stop the chuds is hilarious. :story:

The only event that requires the absolute shut down of every other event and game feature as well.

i wonder how much of this is actually disruptive to normal game function an how much outrage this caused among normal players who neither love nor hate pride
i could see this being something that turns a completely 100% impartial, literally no opinion on the matter, perfectly neutral party towards the side of hating the pride event just cause it fucked with the gameplay they actually cared about

Are their any good p-servers for this game? I tried 2007scape and thought it was nice but was frustrated with the fact half the quests don't work (I'm a lunatic who plays this game for the quests)

Overall though what a hilarious event, I have a feeling some of these mechanics will be removed for good. I could see someone being really pissed about the hunting knife, especially if you can fight with it, could be one poor chap who does a hunting knife only challenge stopped because trannies found it offensive?

Why even, I can see with the stinky sock and the fires, but I can't wrap my head around the hunters knife in a game with weapons.

RIP Smelly Sock, you were a real one.

/v/scape is the only good 2007 one. They've been autistically adding all the content including quests since like 2013 and I think they're almost done at this point. Other than that, 2009scape and OpenRSC are pretty good, not because the actual servers themselves, but because they're open source and semi legal you can self host, modify, and contribute to them. As far as I know their official servers are what you should expect when redditors control something so definitely you're not going to say nigger or make a fireplace swastika on them.

Thank you! I'll have to give /v/scape a look! I don't know a lot about 4chan culture outside of memes (which is probably weird for someone posting on the farms) but hopefully I won't feel too out of place if I can post here.

I do still have my sub running of OSRS, but I wouldn't be against making a new character if the server culture is good.. what's 200 more hours....
 
Was skimming the subreddit to see if any new dev blogs or patch notes were released (yet another Android/iOS interface rework and more pride stuff, seems like) and found a guy who types like NPR or Salon headlines in the wild. Maybe I'm digitally sheltered, but I always assumed that skin-crawling manner of speech was an enforced style guide at specific publications and people didn't actually talk like this. At least a couple users have pointed out how retarded this format is (and have been downvoted for doing so).

The subreddit in particular is full of a lot of genuine derangement that doesn't seem to get covered in the thread. If I ever think to do so, I'll try to post some rundowns on any funny or stupid happenings on the social media side of the community, since the development and content creation aspects are pretty well-documented in the thread by others. Frankly, /r/2007scape could be used as a case-study on why games should maintain official forums that they have direct control over.

A long time ago, I remember seeing a post there asking for Jagex to "rebalance" (buff) the elder maul. I went to that poster's history and the previous day he made a post about how he had pulled an elder maul on his UIM. Redditors are so transparent and cringe.

Apparently there has been some minor ree'ing regarding the Deadman AllStars event that was happening last week and one of the participants in that, Odablock.
I can't really find details but the gist of what I understood is that he was a bit of a sore loser and shit talked a few people but from what I've seen it feels like just banter. I don't know who most of these people are so I have no background.

I did stumble on this clip of one of the guys he shittalked that was funny gloating.

The event itself was alright but some teams were absolutely fucking boring to watch(Faux), some were ok but the guys I was most interested in weren't making videos(Gunschilli) and some were just a straight up comedy troupe(Boaty)

I watched the finals, it was down to 1v1 Oda vs. someone from Dino's team and Oda got really shit RNG at the end, just kept hitting constant 0's, if he had gotten good RNG he would have won. Odablock is one of those guys who is acutely aware people tune in to see big reactions from him, he plays up a lot of stuff for entertainment purposes and is Runescape's most popular streamer for that reason. He was hitting 50k+ live viewers on Kick for his side of the finals, but he seemed to be acting like he was being viewbotted. He was definitely a bit salty immediately after his loss since his RNG was so shit, but he seemed to largely be taking it in stride before I tuned out.
 
Maybe I got lucky, but I haven't seen any pride stuff In the server I frequent.

Though world 301 is kinda a shitshow already known for shitposters.

Outside of the Jagex-sponsored events and the permanently placed gay dwarf, I never see any LGBTQIAP+ shit. It's almost like this is being forced on the community top-down by the company that makes the game and a small minority of annoying trannies nobody actually likes...

It occurred to me that OSRS should probably be in the discussion for the best videogame soundtrack ever on account of the sheer volume of songs, their unique style and how many of them are absolute bangers. Its a pity the best composer of them had to be a paedophile. Sad.

I've been catching up on chunkman accounts and I find it extremely hilarious the Yanille guy
  • found a bug to boost his fishing trawler(extremely old, buggy and unfun, possibly the first minigame on runescape) xp rates and drops by at least 10x(from average 250xp per game to over 2000 a pop going all the way to 8k with a group of ten randos or breaking the 10000k mark with a larger group)
  • abused it to shit to make his months long grind actually reasonable(I fully understand and support that shit) and completable in weeks
  • got an apparent world record for largest fishing xp drop in one go(72.8k)
  • THEN reported it to Jagex
You have to respect the balls on the guy knowing he probably wouldn't get banned in the process because he's an up and coming video maker.
