I really need some Yeezy 950's...

These are the "fanciest" my sneakers ever get... and I got these as christmas gifts. Otherwise I'm the kind of guy that'll just get my shit at Payless and call it a day.

The reason that the rich were so rich, Vimes reasoned, was because they managed to spend less money.

Take boots, for example. He earned thirty-eight dollars a month plus allowances. A really good pair of leather boots cost fifty dollars. But an affordable pair of boots, which were sort of OK for a season or two and then leaked like hell when the cardboard gave out, cost about ten dollars. Those were the kind of boots Vimes always bought, and wore until the soles were so thin that he could tell where he was in Ankh-Morpork on a foggy night by the feel of the cobbles.

But the thing was that good boots lasted for years and years. A man who could afford fifty dollars had a pair of boots that’d still be keeping his feet dry in ten years’ time, while the poor man who could only afford cheap boots would have spent a hundred dollars on boots in the same time and would still have wet feet.

This was the Captain Samuel Vimes ‘Boots’ theory of socioeconomic unfairness.

My last sneakers were a pair of Nike MD Runners that give me blisters all the time if I wear them too much. I wish I could get a pair of Reebok Hexalite Ventilators - they were nice.

Because my heels tend to hurt when I walk around in unsupported sneakers, I've been walking most of this last couple years in my Adidas GSG 9.2 boots. Aside from being a bit hot due to the waterproofing and all leather design they've served me well. I wish you could still get 5.11 tacky universal outsole kits, because that seemed to be a hot ticket spec ops thing to do with your worn out GSG 9s

Guys, you need to check out Irregular Choice.

I have a couple of their women's pairs and they're both comfortable for all day, on your feet wear and look incredible.

I had no idea that shoe/boot teardown videos were a thing until the YouTube Algorithm Gods presented me with this.

I had to keep reminding myself that this teardown was being done in the name of science, as it was tough to watch. Especially as they are almost identical to my own pair (as mentioned in the OP). At least this boot didn't die in vain; it's reassuring the know that RM Williams hasn't cheapened out ... yet.

More military themed footwear, waxi boots from SA and Rhodesia, recommended in another thread, are pretty cool looking:

They're designed to have the flexibility of a sneaker and the durability of an average military boot. There's also the option of an anti-tracking flat sole that's used to obscure footprints, but it's a bad idea for any place that gets significant rainfall and especially ice or snow.

They're definitely not the cheapest decent boot, but not the most horribly expensive footwear either.

Or if you prefer something less durable and more colorful, you can get a pair of these on Etsy:

I mostly just wear plain old skate/running shoes and heavy ass boots. I have a pair of white Air Force ones that I love but I’m too scared to wear because I live in a mud hole, and a pair of blue camo Jordan’s my dad bought me as a gift because the shoe store was closing down and he got them cheap, they’re comfy as fuck.

I also got a pair of black military boots from the local surplus store I wear when I’m feeling like an edge lord. I love em’ they’re the only boots I can tuck my pants into without feeling like a massive faggot.
