Harvy Danger. The first record was good (this song is great) but the next two were hot garbage. They decided to split after that and humanity overjoyed.

Can you be a one hit wonder if your one hit wasn't even really a hit?

Anyway, Moz-tier tune by some band I haven't heard anything from since.

well since someone beat me to post brimful of asha how about 99 loft balloons

Really? That's honestly the only song of theirs that I have ever heard in rotation or mention.

If you don't count the other song they sung during the Shrek movie, they have another song called "Walkin' On The Sun". It's not as popular as All-Star, but was still a hit.

Sorry for the double post, but while I'm here I'll post two one hit wonders I'm pretty sure haven't been posted yet. (I was originally going to post Fastball's The Way, but they seem to have another hit).

Anyway, I hear a lot of one-hit wonders at work, and most of them aren't very good. One that particularly hasn't aged well is Samantha Mumba's "Gotta Tell You". She sounds like a poor man's T-Boz.

She was more of a one-album wonder, though. All five singles from it were top ten hits in the UK. But you are right about the age thing, though. They don't hold up well today. Especially when you start throwing David Bowie samples around.

Could have been worse. She could have done Space Oddity.

I'm seeing a fair few bands that might have only had one hit in a single market but had careers in other markets. I could put Reef up as a one hit wonder but I believe they "made it" in the US.

Unfortunately my offering was actually a two hit wonder , but the follow up only made it to 39 or something in the UK.

I only just remembered this existed the other day. Have a terrible one hit wonder from my childhood.

Toadies aren't a one hit wonder... they had a long career as an underground band. By that criteria, The Butthole Surfers would be a one hit wonder as well.

I haven't seen this one yet, which is a travesty since it's probably the greatest one hit wonder of all time:

One member of House of Pain, went on to a solo career where he was a one-hit wonder.

I fucking hated this song:

sorry for double posting and being wrong: THIS IS THE GREATEST ONE HIT WONDER

A-Ha also had The Sun Always Shines on TV, and the James Bond theme The Living Daylights. Rick Derringer also sang lead on Hang On Sloopy, and composed Real American for @Hulk Hogan

Edit: this sounds real pedantic

Two of my favorites came out in 1990. Not so coincidentally, both songs were also included in Grand Theft Auto V:

When I was in middle school, my peers would almost always talk about the way Jane Child looked, and never say anything about the music. But believe me, once you saw her, you never forgot her.

Also, @AnOminous mentioned Steam's "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye" on the first page, which is going to stand the test of time, but I also remember a really decent remake by the Canadian a capella group The Nylons from 1987:
