I want Thomas Dolby to spit directly in both my eyes, god bless that boy. After listening to the rest of his albums, i don't care much for 'blinded by science' anymore, but it's far from being bad. what an absolutely brilliant human being.
Somewhere I've got an official Colt 45 malt liquor walkman. It's exactly as classy as it sounds.
Sniff 'n' the Tears - Driver's Seat.
Shame this video doesn't have the cool extended intro that starts with the acoustic guitar and slowly the other instruments join one by one. Great song, but wasn't a huge hit.
The Kings - This Beat Goes On/Switchin' to Glide.
Canadian band that probably should have been bigger. They really aren't bad. Just one of those bands whose first hit overshadowed everything else they did.
I found my Mom's old Walkman with a cassette single of Rock Box by Run-DMC in there when I was helping her move. After a change of batteries, it miraculously still works, and between this and my record player, I now have the two most hipstery ways to listen to music.
(Not a one-hit wonder, but it's still a slamming song.)
A power pop favorite from 1988. Despite their other songs not taking off in the mainstream quite to the same degree, the album that this song is on, Green Thoughts, contains some of the best hooks and atmospheres I've ever heard on a pop album.
