Basically, the BBC thought they could continue Top Gear by throwing 1000 different presenters at it, with this irrelevant asshat at the forefront. He promptly ran the show into the ground, got fired, and was exposed as a sex pest (even though they refused to conduct any further investigation into the matter).

This idiot showed up in a segment of the Netflix documentary show "Dark Tourist" which was about him supposedly having the most extreme haunted house in the US and he came off like a total sperg. I remember that, among other things, he mentioned that there were tens of thousands of people on the waiting list to go his haunted house in the middle of bumblefuck, Tennessee and that there was a $20,000 prize for anyone who could do the whole experience without tapping out.

The whole thing came off like a barely-concealed way for him and his hick friends to grope fat goth girls and I think he was also in some legal trouble too because they literally would just abuse women who went there. I also remember a video on YouTube about the $20,000 prize being bullshit, as some guy that was going to win got DQ'ed at the last second for basically no reason. There's probably a bunch of funny shit I'm missing too.

I don’t know if this lady counts, but Jillian Epperly had a disturbingly significant Facebook and Youtube following for her “Jilly Juice” program. She tried to sell it as a “cleanse” but what it amounted to was drinking huge amounts of super salty water and shitting everything out of one’s intestines and in many cases portions of the intestinal lining (which was summarily dismissed as “parasites leaving the body”.

She even appeared on pseudo-cow boomer Dr Phil… and then after about 40 pages her thread faded away.

I had forgotten about him being in deep debt; that's why "the manor" in Cali (?) was sold (or repo'd maybe? IDR the details) and he went to bumfuck Tennessee and lived in the equivalent of Ted Kaczynski's shack, choosing to have his "manor" be something of an outdoor boot camp course, when in all actuality it was his shitty, torn up, muddy backyard with a bunch of garbage and junk strewn about in a way to mimic an obstacle course.
There were accusations of he and his employees (who may or may not have been working for free? if they were there's definitely something sketchy about these dudes) groping and physically assaulting the "contestants"; there is a video that was on the official channel of McKamey Manor of a chick who had passed out, and Russ's reaction was "oh, she's fine" and to keep recording. There was another chick who literally got her ass kicked by the people "working for" Russ; she may have been the one who brought the controversy to light. She did interviews on YT around the same time too, and I want to say that Lazy Masquerade or someone within that genre covered the whole story (but without the funny parts).
There were instances of waterboarding and force-feeding of rancid foods to "contestants", and the whole "manor" part screams Health Code violations out the wazoo. I vaguely remember the dude who went to do the "manor" when all this shit was coming out; he is the one who released the footage of the crackhouse-esque obstacle course, and I think he demanded to Russ that he wanted to keep going, but Russ told him he was "violating the rules" or something to that effect so that he wouldn't have to produce the reward that was never there in the first place.

Though nowadays he sells paintings he does of the incident and has been pretty quiet since, the real cows were the autists trying to identify him from the video and coming up with mad conspiracy theories about him secretly being some Hungarian chess player.
 
Anyone here old enough or been on the internet finding entertainment in pure, unadulterated autism long enough to remember a YT "music star" called Nichole337? She used to dish out consistent lulz, and even had a scamming controversy arc for a little bit there when she was attempting to get her "fans and supporters" to help pay for her to get her jaw reconstructed so she looked like less of a mongoloid. The last I saw of her she had gotten married to a dude who looked very much like he may be a registered sex offender, and they were making awful and hilarious cooking vids together.
Yeah yeah, I know the girl's legitimately debilitatingly autistic, and I know for the most part she's not an awful, contemptable person altogether, and a part of me always felt bad for her for being something of the adult equivalent of the sped being bullied in middle school, but a much younger me found the m.ilk she produced in her heyday to be irresistible and unquestionably hilarious.

The story behind the "Democracy Manifest" rant is absolute gold.
Cecil was a petty criminal with a pretty long rap sheet. He put on a show during the arrest to try and convince the cops that he was insane, as he figured he'd have an easier time in a psych ward than in prison. I forget the exact details, but that's the gist of the story.
He was interviewed earlier this year by the ABC (the Australian one). The audio is worth a listen.
