If it's a lie, how would it be true?

Seeing how chill Rocks and Rogers were, something tells me the story was changed.
I assume he means the " they teamed up to protect CD and their slaves" aspect which may be a red hearing but I think will be slightly more than technically correct i.e Rocks is gonna do something incredibly fucked up or will at least seem so to Roger. It will probably be justified by Rocks.

Does anyone think Rocks and Roger will have their own saki cup moment to explain what the fuck is going on too Roger? I don't think so and thats because I don't think Rocks sees Roger as in "in the loop" or worth a fuck to tell him anything. In Rocks' age Roger is his Captain Kid. I'm not even talking down on Roger

Rocks and Roger fight over Shaki, Garp joins in, Garland cheap shots Rocks.

Edit : Rocks tells Roger some of what he knows as he bleeds out.

Double Edit : Have we discussed how fucking great the new opening is?

I've heard some speculation that Rocks is going to get blamed for the slaughter in God Valley, only for Rogers and Garp to learn the truth after the battle is
over.

I don't even remember what happens in Gear 3 and the only thing I remember about Gear 4 is that it looks retarded.

Gear 2 is peak and I'd like Gear 5 a lot more if the anime wasn't so obnoxious with the constant laughing and cartoon sound effects.
gear 3 is very odd because its entirely there just so that gear 4 makes more sense and does not come too early. luffy learns he can make himself bigger like a balloon and even use haki afterwards but only when he does gear 4 does he figure out how to combine them fully. gear 5 is just luffy going "oh wait..i can just do whatever i want"

Ignoring that Gomu Gomu Balloon was a thing already.

Gear 2 and 3 is used if want to use Haki sparingly for quick bursts of speed or power
Gear 4 is more Haki intensive and requires a constant flow.
Gear 5 pushes the Devil Fruit to its limit.

i think the cover up is that rocks and roger were fighting and it got so bad that garp had to team with roger to fight off rocks and his crew. the real story is that rocks and roger came to save shakky while garling and the gods knights were doing the human hunt and teamed up maybe even with garp to stop garling and company they succeed but only because imu decides to erase the island entirely

but before that rocks demands a fight with roger and garp in which rocks dies while telling the other two everything similar to whitebeard telling everyone the one piece is real before dying.

in the end the navy only keeps garp around because he is too strong to get rid of but if he were to ever tell anyone about what he saw they would have sent kuma or someone from CP0 to kill luffy. all while roger decides to look for the things rocks told him about.

I think this is close, but Rocks tells Garp and Roger about shit on the down low and Imu/Saturn/Garland didnt catch it.

Always say it as Balloon is utilizing his whole body to reflect an attack where as Gear 3 uses the same principal but allocates that body inflation to specific bones adding size and strength behind it showing he gained slightly more control over his devil fruit (with drawbacks of course for a new technique). Like how Jet Shell actually utilizes Gomu Gomu Balloon as an attack while in Gear 2 but using Gear 3.

I am saying that the inflation idea was already there. Gears 3 and 4 just applied it differently. It is not new.

Part of me thinks that it’s going to be like Clover: like how Clover was killed JUST BEFORE he said the name of the great kingdom that the WG didn’t want anybody to know about, Rocks may be killed JUST BEFORE he talks about Imu or anything else he knows about there being someone with more authority than the Gorosei. And then Buster Call.

Funny enough, I’m pretty sure that the WG narrative is pretty much what Alabasta ended up as: WG crediting the Marine (Garp/Smoker) with stopping the main antagonist (Rocks/Crocodile), while hiding the pirate that did the metaphorical heavy lifting (Roger/Luffy). I’m not sure about the “Rocks uses his last moments to talk about things the WG don’t want people to hear” because 1: Garp would take out Rocks himself before he gets to say anything good (that or he’d write off Rocks as a lunatic), and 2. Having Roger do his voyage inspired by what Rocks said flies in the face of everything multiple characters (including his own crew members like Rayleigh) have said about that voyage (Roger decided to go on an adventure as he was dying), along with Roger being a proto Luffy and does what he does for the fun of it without a care for any bigger lore/meta/prophecy (even if he’s at the center/a key part of it).

I think it is going to be more vague than that, think about the order of events.

God Valley

-20 years pass, Roger gets cancer aids-

Roger decides to navigate the grand line

Roger gets to Loadstar, hits a wall but gets enough info that he needs someone from Wano because they can read the poneglyphs

Whatever Rocks tells Roger has to be vague enough for Roger to dismiss it until he finds out he is dying and says "fuck it why not"

Which makes "the thing that roger and luffy said" even more interesting because it means a dying man thought it was viable.

I also didn't say it was new i was trying to say it's an expansion (no pun intended) of Luffy's moveset.
The comment that I had replied to implied that the inflation was introduced with Gear 3 but I corrected it and said that balloon came first.

so what are the odds the reason god valley vanishes is not because of imu or a buster call but instead because rocks has the yami yami no mi and simply consumed the entire island in darkness so when he died and when teach got the fruit he found out everything. thatch was being used by the will of rocks to get to teach.
