i almost wonder if this is implying shanks and shamrock are more important than we realize. i mean we know that garling is their father but i dont think we really know much about their mother aside from the fact that she was living in god valley with both of them and garling seemingly just picked her randomly to have kids with. between this and shanks not going to laugh tale i have a feeling that him and shamrock are the decedents of someone connected to joy boy like how blackbeard is the son of rocks and a decedent of davy jones.
If anything, it could explain why Shanks is so interested in what Luffy is up to in regards to his pursuit of The One Piece. It’s really obvious Oda has something going on beyond just Shanks wanting to keep tabs on the kid with a dream.
