The Gorousei seemed more concerned for Imu's safety than the idea that he was going to go wreck shit on Elbaf. Maybe he cannot survive in the 'lower world' for too long.

The heart this chapter was dragon guy's so they likely all have them.


As to Imu's true form, GLR said that he was coating himself in Conqueror's Haki when in his black shadow form, which is pretty cool so I'll believe him.

Am I overthinking or did he summon a fake imu or something?

if you remember when the gorosei showed up on egghead they were also transformed when they appeared. so my guess is that part of what imu does to transport places requires you to be in your strongest possible form to survive the trip. so you are seeing imu transforming which i believe causes him damage and may be another flaw of his fruit.

I wonder if Imu is a parasite (the manifestation of the Devil fruit) controlling the host shadow blob, as a juxtaposition to Luffy controlling his devil fruit's true power.

so i think it goes like this first nika and some type of sea god/devil clash nika kills them freeing the world from the sea and allowing humanity to begin to spread all over. this also resulted in the creation of devil fruits. the sea god/devil nika defeated became the fruit now possessed by imu. like how the nika fruit is the fruit joyboy had. the difference between the devil fruit and the nika fruit is that the nika fruit is pure freedom and the devil fruit is pure control.

because of that you could say imu is not the parasite but rather the host for the actual parasite. which is the devil fruit which contains the sea god/devil. imu wanted to become king of the world and that fruit gave him the power to reach that goal but at a cost. notice how his little shadow blob form seems smaller than the guy who is standing on top of the castle? i believe thats because imus non awakened form is very small frail and sickly but when transformed he becomes massive and loses himself slowly to the devil.

also am i the only one who thinks imu looks a little similar to enel? almost like the sky island enel came from knew more about imu or the past in general

im thinking there was some big event in the past that created all the devil fruits even imus but imus fruit is special because it contains the soul of an actual devil where as the nika fruit is just the collective hopes and dreams of everyone who believed in nika as well as joyboy.

Joyboy (or Nika) and Imu were in their big, awakened-form battle. And the other Fruits were beaten out of Imu, explaining the scars on him.

So joyboy(maybe luffy ancestor), zunesha, davy jones(blackbeard ancestor), imu, Vivi ancestor(old portrait imu looked at last chapter looked like her), Loki ancestor(familiar with the devil fruit Loki used and stayed in elbaf with the giants over the years), Ragnir are all confirmed void century characters so far. Imu couldnt kick joyboys ass in the void century just because his haki was enough to frighten him so he either schemed joyboy and davy jones to fight each other in near death before he finished them off or joyboy and other void century characters just died of old age for Imu to rule later and zunesha to still be alive, maybe Imu was still friends but jealous that ancestor vivi loved joyboy or hates joyboy for somehow being involved in ancestor vivi's death for him to remain an asshole for 800 years. So far what is implied is that Imu is a huge simp for either vivi or vivi's ancestor makes me want to joke that Imu is Sanji's ancestor.

I don't think the "evil Nika" form is even Imu's true form, remember he still has another form where he's just a giant devil dragon (the same one Sabo saw and likely the one on the leftmost side of the Harley mural, we haven't actually saw that one yet and that's likely what he actually looks like, he just shapeshifts.

Anyways, I'm wondering if someone accidentally knocked the Gorosei or Imu into the water on accident they would just swim and crawl back up because they don't have devil fruit powers in the literal sense (and as far as we saw the Gorosei's Zoan abilities are too bizzare to be literal Zoans). If the Gorosei and Imu can just die by drowning it would be lame.

Plus I speculate that it's the other way around where Imu is a sea monster and also doesn't have devil fruit powers in a conventional manner so he can swim anyways (the first thing Luffy fought when he set sail in Chapter 1 is a literal sea monster and I am not surprised if that's also unintentional foreshadowing). As for the Gorosei/Holy Knights the Gorosei's transformations probably came from somewhere else rather than a Mythical Zoan Fruit and a Deep Sea or Abyssal Covenant would probably let you swim anyways? i have been seeing people saying the reason imu is so interested in vivi is because he wants to transfer himself into her body and that robin and her mom might actually be related to imu or at least members of the nerona family and imus falling into madness and sudden desire to erase history is what resulted in robins mother fleeing to ohara and changing her name. from nerona to nico.

Going with this actually I had this idea that perhaps there is a level above Awakening. Full succumbing to the form they allow users to take like for instance Luffy fully becomes Nika or at least his own version of Nika (Since we can assume Joyboy's version is different when we see it.)
