Wow a woman pushing his kid's father out of the picture in order to maintain control of the children. Crazy stuff like that is how you remember One Piece is fantasy.
She is evil who to twists motherhood into something evil and she is juxtaposed to Sora who sacrificed her self for her children. The same way Judge is compared to Zeff and Pound.

So the Los Angeles Dodgers had a One Piece Night.
Ngl this was pretty cool of them to do.

It's honestly a little off-putting just how much One Piece has gained in popularity the last couple of years, but then I have to remind myself of Poké-Mania. While I don't think it'll get to that level of nationwide coverage (though Luffy getting a Macy's Day Parade balloon pretty much was OP entering the mainstream), to get as big as Dragon Ball Z and Naruto here was a long time coming. The scars of 4KIDS have definitely healed over, and I don't think it could've come at a better time.

Reminder that 4Kids only had the property for a few short years and it wasn't even the first English dub of it. Between Naruto coming out of the closet and Dragon Ball being a rising star in the West, One Piece anime never stood a chance.
I'd bet money a different dub would've met the same fate no matter what, except instead of being picked up by someone else, it dies in the corner like Zatch Bell and probably makes a quiet return like Lupin the III.
If anything, the fault lies with Viz Media and/or Shueisha for fumbling it in the early years.

Thanks, Netflix.

Even still, with all the boosts One Piece has gotten, I still feel like a lot of it has boosted because of Netflix. Then again, Oda’s mentioned that he felt it’d be a great idea to do OP in live action because of how CG and VFX have involved and improved since he started. Also, Gear 5 really got people talking about One Piece. And I think Oda also made a statement about how “One Piece is in its final saga, so hop on the bandwagon because things are about to get really good.”

Still, with things like My Hero Academia and Demon Slayer and Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure getting decent buzz, it’s kind of odd that they haven’t gotten the same amount of publicity (even if you could argue that JJBA had more of a cult following than anything else.)

MHA shat itself in the last arc, JJBA is too old and..utterly insane (in the best way) to really hit the mainstream outside of Memes and Demon Slayer ended.

Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure getting decent buzz
JoJo is designed for anime fans, not normies. It's pretty much safe from mainstream.

One Piece was bizarre enough in the beginning to keep normies away (and also regular anime fans because it had a cartoony artstyle), but it revealed itself to be more than a weird shounen over time and I think we're at a point where even normies can now accept a fantastical world of pirates where weird shit happens because the world-building hasn't broken itself. It's more likely than not they're mistaking these powers as being akin to superhero powers (despite superhero fatigue setting in now), but pirates aren't superheroes at all and that's probably a breath of fresh air for them.

Also the live-action adaptation being relatively faithful helped a lot. Notice how no one's talking about Netflix's Cowboy Bebop anymore and for good reason, and the original anime series is way more successful in getting normies on board than One Piece itself.

I still think there's a chance of weeding out Netflix tourists in the coming arcs, but the hype is here to stay.

JoJo is designed for anime fans,
I wouldn't say that, It is just so over the top in every way that it turns people off, however Jojo wouldn't work as a story if it weren't as over the top and insane as it is, and Jojo isn't particularly well written most of the time, like i love Jojo but people watch it for the utter batshit insanity that every story escalates into.

I feel like Buggy will die being named 2nd, but the shortest lived King of the Pirates. Then in the Epilogue it’ll be revealed he lived.

He’s a joke character, but he’s literally the first major antagonist. He’s going to have a big damn hero moment.
im stlll betting on buggy becoming the only actual king of the pirates that everybody talks about. think about it. he has the fact that he was on rogers crew going for him and as far as anyone knows somehow both the worlds strongest swordsman and crocodile a guy who is generally seen as powerful both just follow buggy as members of the cross guild.

then you have the whole legend of nika being a silly dude whos body is like rubber which some will look at buggy and go "oh yeah buggy is just like nika" pretty much everything is being set up for buggy to take the title of king of the pirates while luffy just gets to chill and be free like he always wanted.

Man, Big Mom gets more fucked up the more you think about her. Makes your typical BPD/NPD ho look more stable.
big mom is very interesting because i dont really think shes exactly a bad person and i think if things went better for her at the orphanage with mother caramel she might have even ended up showing up in elbaf to fight in the current arc. her issues have always been due to her immense hunger pangs causing her to go crazy to the point that shes willing to eat people and the fact that she has a very childish way of thinking.

she has good intentions with wanting whole cake island to be a place for every race to be free and happy but her way to accomplish that goal is where the issues start. but im willing to believe much of her ruthless nature is due to things she learned from rocks while in his crew. which is why despite having so many kids she does not really seem to actually love anyone.

rocks taught her that power is all that matters and in her childlike mind she thought back to her time with the giants and remembered they were also freaky strong and decided that what rocks was saying was true and that the only way for her to see her dreams become reality was to have as many kids as possible in hopes that they will all be as strong as her if not stronger.
Skypeia is bad because you can cut like 70% of it out and you get the same story. The fucking around on Skypeia and the fight in the woods take up too much time. It sets stuff up. The Merry having a spirit, the old man getting closure that his ancestor wasn’t a liar, and Roger’s crew leaving a message are neat.

It’s a bloated mess. I pray that when Enel comes back as Head-Wigger-In-Charge though. Peak antagonist.
i think skypiea was fine overall but it does get to a point were you just wish it would be done with already. the end fight with enel is a great example because you know luffy is going to win but they pad out enels big final attack for way too long if you ask me. or at least it felt that way when i was watching it.

also going back and watching skypiea or any of the older arcs really shows off how generally useless anybody not named luffy or zoro was for much of the early days. sanji eventually got himself up with zoro and luffy but holy fuck do the strawhats depend on luffy and zoro for almost everything at all times. kuma was right to make everyone get stronger or die because theres no way they would have even gotten passed fishman island with how useless everyone else was.

This is one of those “well yeah no shit” telegraphed plot twists like Shanks being an Emperor.
I mean, a lot of people just thought that he was Rocks's equivalent of Bartolomeo, not his actual son. Now this gives a whole new context to the fight against Ace during that cover story.

Rocks is BB's father, HOLY SHIT.
I still dont know if this is gonna be confirmed. The leaks said it, but the leaks say he "looks like blackbeard (because hes blackbeards father)" which to me implies that this is the leakers interpretation not that its confirmed in chapter. Why would BB come up so early when he wouldnt have even been born yet? pretty sure hes only 40.
Maybe im coping though because Buggy being Rocks son and not BB would have been more kino

Buggy will be a Nefertari and Mihawk might be Imu's son. I also believe that Nami and Sterry are siblings and are related to Nerona Charlos due to Oykot Kingdom being a God Valley type incident.

That would be funny if i guess that Vivi ends up going to the Final War with the Cross Guild like I semi joked (Where else would Morgans and Wapol go at this point?)
I think that Cross Guild and NEO-Mads will team up and break out a bunch of characters from Impel Down.

>They Break into Impel down to Save Bon Chan
>Mingo escapes with them
I think that Moria + Perona are headed to Cross Guild, where Weevil will join them as well. Doflamingo and most of his family sans Senor Pink will join Blackbeard, who will show up with Jesus Burgess and Avalo Pizzaro to make things infinitely worse. Arlong, Captain Kuro, and a few other old D-listers will join BB as well. Senor Pink and Bon Clay will flee to the Revolutionaries where they will meet up with Ivankov. Imu will test out Uranus again, this time on Impel Down for its many failures, with Magellan, Hyannabel, Sadie, Domino, and a few others barely escaping alive to go join the Revolutionaries.
