I mean, Amaterasu was many things, but it was Susanoo who did that.
Namely, the two siblings were squabbling because they had some sort of bet about having children, Amaterasu had 5 sons and Susanoo had 3 daughters.
Susanoo declared himself the victor and then started acting like a nigger, destroying Susanoo's crops and then taking a shit in her dining room and finished by killing her animals and one of her handmaidens.
Amaterasu responded by locking herself in the panic room which made the sun fuck off.

I recall another myth about a goddess shitting out food at a party and Tsukuyomi getting angry.

Supposed leaks from the next chapter, the reason Rocks and Rogers jumped into God Valley the way they did is because Shakky had been captured and was being used as one of the prizes for the competition. big if true.
 
I'd bet money that grave they're paying homage to in the cover story is Gecko Moria's.
