Plausible, but I still think the real play is to have it where somebody who knows more than the Straw Hats will just comment on what Luffy is doing, like what happened when Vegapunk and the Gorosei talked about Luffy’s Gear 5 powers. I think the only person who’ll even try to explain things to Luffy directly will be Shanks, but that’ll probably be something like how The One Piece is more than a treasure and how it’ll make Luffy’s real dream possible.

Also I think you guys are misunderstanding Luffy's not caring. Luffy doesn't care about someone's backstory if they are aren't willing to do anything about it. Like with Nami, he didn't care about getting told her history because at the time Nami was being a bitch and not standing up to Arlong.

Note how much he cared when he was in the Map room. He wasn't aiming to beat Arlong with that Gum Gum Axe. He was aiming to destroy that Map Room, Arlong just charged him and let him kill 2 birds with one stone. If when the final fight comes the world shows up to help fight Imu..Luffy will be invested.

And I guess Koby will work to stop that as the new head of the Marines since there seems to be some real “order vs chaos” thing going on. The Gorosei in their first meeting did say they were concerned about the state of the world after all.

that is what is weird to me because it does seem like the series is "trying" to steer Luffy into the prophecy albeit unwillingly. Would also add that it is clear that whatever the "Will of D" is heavily ties into this as far as we know anyone who has the "D" in their name is usually defiant or extremely untrusting of order. Even figures like Saul and Garp who work directly with the order of the world several times question it but it isn't mutually exclusive to the Will of D of course.

Personally I always knew this since as i said Luffy's dream and what it means to him is self serving. He hates peolpe that can't help themselves even if they have the means to and constantly chews peolpe out if they seem weak and "pathetic". As I said before too when I say self serving I don't mean inheritdly selfish since a lot of people all over the internet and in places seem to think that the Straw Hats are your typical noble group of heroes when Oda himself has to remind people they're pirates. As we know the worst type of person to Luffy is someone who crushes the dreams of other people.

luffy will only care when his friends are in danger. him being nika will never be important to him. but thats why he is the chosen one. i think the best we will get is robin or vivi begging luffy to help and luffy going along with it because he has to protect his friends.

I’m pretty sure the revolutionaries will get involved, especially if it’s after The One Piece is found, and there’s a chance they can deliver a fatal blow to the WG and the Celestial Dragons, alongside their structure. I’m sure they’d love to tell of how Sabo discovered Imu, and who they think Imu is, and anything Luffy would tell them casually even if it they already know and they can just connect the dots.

It would be funny. But at this point, there's still too much. You have Nika, Nika's powers, Joy Boy, Joy Boy having Nika's powers, Joy Boy becoming the first pirate in the world , the ancient weapons, the great kingdom, Joy Boy being from the great kingdom, the war that ended the void century, Joy Boy's apology for breaking a promise to Fishman Island, Joy Boy leaving a treasure at Laugh Tale, Roger considering it a 'funny story" even if he was "too early", The WG being formed with the Celestial Dragons having a bunch of priveliges that let them be rich assholes with impunity, The WG going on a MASSIVE censorship run, Whitebeard saying the treasure Roger found will make the WG shit so many bricks it can end a housing crisis...and then Luffy unlocks Gear 5, which is said to be the powers of Nika and how "Joy Boy has returned!".

Even if it is funny, I still think Oda has made it to where Luffy has connections to the lore, but is in blissful ignorance of that 24/7, even if it's by choice. Kind of like how Oda made it where Luffy unlocks Gear 5 and has it a super state awakened by laughter/happiness and being a carefree idiot instead of most shonen powerups being from a state of anger/righteous fury like Goku's first Super Saiyan moment against Frieza (which is what IIRC, the first revelation of Gear 5 was compared to).
