Wait, I am talking about the beginning of the arc. Where Caesar knocked out everyone with his DF.
Wasn't that sleeping gas...and I don't think Luffy actually was in that group. He was with the group that went onto the Island and met Kinemon's butt.

Edit : Oh you mean the fight outside of the Main Gate...I guess Luffy got caught by that, but Luffy wasn't exactly fighting seriously at that point else he could have straight up knocked Cesar out before Cesar got the chance to suck out the oxygen.

I don't think that would have worked on anyone Mingo level or higher.

Yes, Luffy was knocked out due to lack of oxygen after Caesar was told that he is immune to toxins. It was after the Jet Stamp and before he knocked the other SHs and G-5.

Luffy wasn't exactly going for "Kick Ceasar's shit in" in that moment, they were discussing how to tie Cesar up since he is a Logia.

so i was thinking about this the other day but are we entirely sure big mom is dead? because with how her power works i have to wonder if as long as someone were to find her body all they need to do is take her back to whole cake island and feed her some of the homies since they are all parts of her soul. which if that did happen i could see her making a return to help out luffy in the big end war.
Well, Zeus is still alive. I think Mother Carmel's Prometheus disappeared after she got eaten(?) by BM, but my Whole Cake Island memories are a little rusty.

If they survive, it has to be more than haki. Air pocket maybe? As for no proper death scene, maybe Oda did not want to draw a slow, agonizing death? Death by submersion into magma is not exactly child friendly.
i just figure big mom can just be brought back by eating homies so even if she did die she can be brought back sort of like how brook was able to come back to life because of his fruit.

as for kaido? i think he is actually dead he was already very tired after his fight with luffy and wounded by zoro so the magma would have been able to get through his extra thick skin.

also i dont think oda is entirely against drawing agonizing deaths i mean look at what happened to saturn.

Was there any demonstration of her doing that? I do not recall something like that.

Yes but Kaidou's is slower.

I thought they were spat out with the lava, team-rocket style.
I think they are just stuck there until the plot needs them again. I'm not going to try and make up any logical way for them to survive like "air pockets" since this is One Piece which is all about over the top romanticism. And if they didn't immediately die upon being dumped into lava then I think it's pretty much guaranteed they'll be back. How many times in the series have characters looked like they died, but then came back anyways? With Big Mom, and Kaidou they were very specifically shown to be knocked out and floating in Lava without instantly dissolving.
Of course if Oda wants to have them randomly die off after showing them being stuck in lava and not dead then I'm all for it, but that would be a first for the series.

all i remember is that she can manipulate the homies and take away their souls or make them stronger. there is also the thing she does where she takes parts of peoples lifespans and adds it to her own. though i could be misremembering.
According to the wiki, Linlin can shorten her lifespan for a boost but she has never shown to add lifespan to herself or others. Linlin LIKES to eat lifespan but there is no indication it grants her more lifespan. Also, while she can turn her body-parts into homies, (self-)resurrection might be beyond her powers.

Doesn't the wiki just straight up use shit from the data books?
