I was reading reddit and they were all stroking each other's cocks over black Vivi saying that "Egypt is Africa so of course Vivi is brown." Because when you're an enlightened redditor, all the browns look alike. Egypt, Nicaragua, India, Congo.. what's the difference?

I also got banned for posting this in response to a "I fixed Rebecca's design" post:
i thought they hated her design as it's too provocative, which i guess it is

A bit earlier, I think. Libs were getting tired of everyone dunking on their bad takes and started accusing everyone of lacking in "Media Literacy". As there is a big amount of libs in this community, it reached us too.
was it before 2020

Those glasses on Nami is someone's fetish.
yes hello

I really hate interacting with the one piece community, i have the words muted because all they are doing is arguing about the race of characters and politics. Speaking of when did the whole media literacy crap start becoming a thing in the community was it recent around the 2024 election or has it been a discussion longer
Narutoforums used to be awash in animu-niggers politisperging (muh child soldiers in magical shonen animu are unethical and problematic!)

Yes, Oda's specifically, but characters wearing glasses are a pain in the ass to draw constantly.

Luffy getting excited and cheering that his friends are alive isn't even bad here. I think the main problems with the live action One Piece is that some of the fight scenes can be way too cheesy and the CGI at times can be bad. I remember watching Luffy and Alvida's second fight and my friends were laughing when she was roller skating over to Luffy and hit him because it looked bad.

Giving the whale and dinosaurs giant, disney princess eyes was also crazy.

Lot of weird close up shots in normal conversations that make everything look wonky.

I don't understand why they moved the Wapol stuff inside, feels a lot more cramped and underwhelming when Hirilock is just a tiny explosion in the throne room or Luffy is just standing in front of a wall to protect the flag.

i find it really hard to get into live action things and so far i feel like one piece live action is doing their best but its having a hard time translating to live action because of how animated many one piece characters are. luffy and anybody who reacts in an over the top manner suffers as a result.

i think the characters who do the best in live action are the more serious characters like robin. even zoro is not awful even if the three sword style is kind of goofy looking when an actual person is doing it. i think this issue will get worse the further into the story they get because of how much of a role the animation of some areas plays into setting the vibe. i am also worried about how franky will turn out if they get to water 7.

the guy they had playing brook did pretty good though and i think him as a skeleton version of brook will work just fine. even though i dont see them going as far as thriller bark.

overall i think the live action one piece should have copied the anime a bit more as far as changing the style of things based on the area. either way i dont think its exactly awful but i also really dont care for live action stuff. especially when its something that uses animation and overly cartoonish things to set the mood for a scene. the closest thing to that style being pulled off well was in who framed roger rabbit and that still mainly used cartoons.

Isn't the stereotype of most shounen like teenagers beating up grown ass men? Why exactly is this kind of thing a problem for people now (besides tourists and political nutjobs).

I think people (here, around the web, showmakers and so on) need to accept converting anime, especially something as over-the-top like One Piece, just won't ever work. Budgets need to be too big to be worthwhile to make the fights work, real people acting like cartoon characters rarely works, the fights are way harder to do, and so on. They can make as many super-accurate costumes as they'd like, and while the effort is appreciated, half the time it just falls flat. Like poor Wapol just looks super awkward, as an example. I feel bad for his actor having to wear all that shit while also acting and talking, it must've been miserable.

I'm not into One Piece but a video popped up on my feed of the live action series. Why does it look so cheap?

My biggest S2 takeaway was marvelling at how the actor they got for Vivi actually has a hella pointy One Piece female character nose.

And Buggy still rules. If you don't like the jack nicholson's joker sailor clown man talking like a sailor you can suck my bulbous bright red left nut.

Brook was always Nigger Coded.

post timeskip brooks design is a blatant reference to this guy and several other guys
I like Ussop's actor but Luffy's actor looks like he just tries to capture the physical mannerisms of the manga/anime but they look weird when you try and do it in real life. It's something that was a little off putting to me in the first season too but the actor captures Luffy's whimsy very well in most places.
Oddly I think live action luffy doesn't really do the manga/anime mannerisms too well. I haven't seen this fucking thing outside season 1 back when it came out and i watched it with a fren, but one of my primary issues with it in series one was how muted everything was, how garp was just generic dour military guy instead of military guy who's got a really goofy side and is so blatantly THE guy that raised luffy, a number of other deaht note/bebop-netflix-isms but most of all the fucking Luffy guy being weirdly not quite fitting aside from kinda vaguely looking luffy ish due to the outfit wasn't really a good fit IMO. No clue if it's the direction or what but it's stiff and quiet in live action didney remake kinda way. I'm not expecting a constantly screeching anime dub luffy voice or anything unrealistic, I just want a guy to be able to have an energy about him that makes you go "yeah this dude really fucking loves adventure this dude LOVES pirates man". Like the wanted poster being framed more like a mrbeast thumbnail than a dude laughing and waving is one of the primary examples I have of the weirdness of netflix luffy.

Also speaking of mrbeast the weird astroturfing with that guy and several others suddenly going and claiming to be one piece fans all at the same time right before the season 2 thing was such a blatant fucking astroturf success attempt for something that was already popular-ish compared to other netflix adaptations. Really weird shit man!

It feels like whoever is writing Zoro for the live action watched the 4kids dub two decades ago and only vaguely recalls what he was like.

When I saw tranny Coby and Garp again I was so disappointed. They continue wasting screentime on shit that only serves to convolute the plot. It’s the same with Barto showing up in Loguetown. What was the point in that other than to give a actor a job and have redditors soyjak? Imagine if this is your first exposure to the story you’d be just scratching your head wondering why this ugly fuck keeps getting shots, and you never even find out.

I’ve only been able to stomach a episode and a half so far. I just don’t get how people like this adaptation. The only positive thing I can say is I think Sanji and Usopp are decent and pretty much what I expect of those characters in live action.

It is never going to stop bugging me that the live action going merry just has a plain unpainted white front end. Who the fuck decided that should be like that? Fuck you go to any image search and look up "old ship heads" literally all of them are painted with more than one fucking color. It feels legit just liKE a braindead "make it more serious/real!" thing or some merch marketing thing.

Like how fucking hard would it be to just paint the fucking horns brown?
