OneShot - A game about a Anthropomorphic Cat with no pronouns that holds a light bulb that's also a sun? - When being a Big Shot is not enough...

And now a thread shows up in my KF notifications to inform me it's about trannies and furries.
Niko isn't referred to with any gender in game because it's up to the player to decide (although I think he's a boy, I've only seen guys with that name or a similar one)
I just "assumed Niko's gender" as a boy.
I mean you technically aren't wrong since its up to you to decide or something.

I really don't like how people are trying to push him as "non binary" or whatever faggy shit they wanna impose on some fictional child.

Yeah I've noticed this trend alot with people instantly jumping to non-binary whenever there's a character with a questionable/non-existent gender in media, when I don't think it's that simple. A character not being a boy or girl doesn't make instantly make them non-binary, sometimes a character is written simply to be neither, sometimes characters are written more as entities, or things on a different plain, not confined to a simple boy or girl label, almost alien in a way.

Think of a robot or a creature not from our world, something so beyond us, it's not a boy or a girl because it simply just doesn't play by the same rules we do, doesn't mean it's non-binary, there's more nuance to this kinda shit than alot of people think. I once saw someone try and call The fucking Mimic from FNaF transgender because he mimics and takes the form of other things and beings, thus making them trans...fucking somehow, I guess all skinwalkers and other shapeshifting entities or entities based on disguise are now trans, fuck you I guess.

Of course an authors word matters most, but alot of these characters are written that way on purpose, like Frisk. A canon say on what they are from the creator would just soil an aspect of their character.

It's part of the standard tactics from the usual people: If a character's gender isn't clear, instead of "he" being a default, then it's defaulted to "they", sometimes even if it's apparent we're talking about a boy or a girl. They (heh) are trying to normalize the "they/them" inanity.
If you argue, the reasoning will be that "they" has been used for vague entity for a long time, yadda yadda.

Decided to actually try the game because it's on sale. It's alright. Primarily narrative-driven puzzle game with decent visuals, the puzzles could stand to be a little more complex for the meta stuff they're going for but I enjoyed it. The base story is kinda just undertale again and there probably was at least a little overlap there since it came out I think a few months after, but it feels like it would've benefited from being a lot more fleshed out than it is.

As someone who's never played it yet should I play the original or the world machine version first?

Its annoying when the whole goal of making a character like the undertale protag androgenous is so that anyone can imprint on them since part of the meta narrative is that you the player are an element of the story. Its not that they have no sex, but rather their sex is whatever you want it to be just as their name is the one you give them.

I played the world machine version, dunno if there's any major differences though.

Play the original it's just better unless you're on a steam deck or linux. WME has a music box and all but it was designed for consoles.

I feel like the tranny dev gave the player an self insert god complex in a way to stay in control. It just seems weird that you give Niko a character different pronouns when clearly Niko is a male.

Tranny dev trooned out after the game was made (I think around 2018 ), he self inserted as a different character called the shepherd. The pronouns thing is kinda misleading because niko was just not called by a pronoun during the game.

I dont know what a niko is nor did I say anything about a niko

Trying to dance around a character's gender is always going to be awkward. The only time it works is if it's from your faceless HUD or whatever, and characters refer to either "you there" directly or whatever your in-game name is "[name], I beseech you, please spare our people!"

Even if the character isn't actually non-binary when they try to pull the ambiguous gender shit you can tell.

The game is cute and some of the problem solving is creative (requiring you to manipulate your directories and breaking the fourth wall).

The furry/no pronoun thing underneath is irritating but its generally about how something artificially (the cat boy) can become "real" via emotional investment.

I found it enjoyable for the price and time involved.
