I never understood why some people dont like her. Shes a perfectly fine voice actress. I liked her preformance in part 6.
I assume most of the distaste with her just comes from her being involved with that Kirbopher guy Chris had on the show a while back to promote his game.
She also did voices in HotDiggityDemon’s PONY. MOV series and Twitternis still screaming about him being a racist or whatever because he made edgy cartoons and art.

Someon on YouTube pointed out that the fate of the forest demon is the exact scenario Zach described on OneyPlays about a bunch of children ripping apart and devouring a monkey.

To be fair there's real life precedent to that

I guess this thread supersedes the Adult Swim thread regarding Smiling Friends. I had to rewatch the episodes but I thought it ranged from great to pretty good. For an 11 minute cartoon I still laughed more than watching shit like Rick and Morty or Family Guy or Zombie Simpsons or current year South Park AKA the Randy Show. Something something the bar has been lowered.

The pilot is still the funniest episode but the 2nd best would be Mr. Frog. I loved the Halloween episode because it's so rare to see a show build up just for one epic gag. Episode 5 is probably the least funny but it still made me laugh a good number of times especially because of Perry: https://kiwifarms.net/threads/perry-caravello-big-3-community-tom-brennan-aka-tom-b.9159/

Yeah, you can trace the roots of a lot of the jokes in SF to their origins in Sleepycabin or Oneyplays.

The good thing is, they're not just injokes, they took the base idea and worked it into a way that they stand alone, and if you catch where it came from, all the better for you.

I can’t believe century egg is actually a real thing…
If you think that's bad don't check out some of the other disgusting things they do with Eggs over there in China.
Overall for episodes I would say
Pilot>Halloween>Shrimp>Hell>Frowning Friends>Mr Frog>Quests>Salty

I actually have a theory the century egg joke dates back to lyle's old podcast swaggalaggin. I bet it was originally suppose to be a "virgin boy egg" but even adult swim told them that was too far so they changed it to a century egg. Zach probably picked it up from lyle's obsession with nasty chinese eggs. That joke is the one I recognized the oldest origin to.

You can hear lyle and his friend phil talk about it around 7:00 here. This entire podcast is cool for anyone interested in the newgrounds origins. There is an episode with Zach. It might be his earliest appearance outside animation. I remember the podcast was on twitch around 2012-2013, but ripped to youtube in 2014 before twitch deleted vods.

I like how the city Smiling Friends takes place in a total shithole of a city.
Based off reality I guess.
I like the implication the entire smiling friends world is a hellscape. The homelessness, the creatures in the background, the fact the smiling friends exist at all. Nearly every character we see is miserable, insane, under duress, or an actual monster.

Did anyone else notice glep becomes president in the future? There's a few hints in earlier episodes, but the last one has a picture of him in the white house. I wonder how much Zach and Michael have plotted out? I remember Zach and Chris mentioning their design document for hellbenders had several seasons outlined so I wonder if smiling friends is similar. Also wonder if anything hellbenders will make an appearance in the future if there is a season 2.

Not sure where else to post this but evidently a person who appears to be Stamper got arrested in Wyoming last month

In defense of my favorite alcoholic, he didn’t go lower than shädman (which probably isn’t even possible).

I'd love to know Egoraptor's opinions on Smiling Friends.
You know what? I have a theory that the fact that Smiling Friends got a season is what caused Arin to become an alcoholic (if the recent rumors are true). I'm sure Arin just fuckin' absolutely seethes at the fact that the show exists and is beloved by a big fucking cult audience and he never got to that level of mainstream success. The closest he got was the failed YT Red show that everyone hated and a few voice acting bit parts. Had Arin not acted like a faggot and burned bridges he could have at least shared in the success with Zach and co. and probably would have voiced a character.

Loved Smiling Friends but gotta say that for now the series for me feels like a mixed bag. Mr. Frog, Shrimp gamer and Salty's episodes were ok but I didn't like the pacing and felt the plots to be very predictable, however, once you get to the good stuff like the Halloween episode, the Quest one, the Christmas special and Frowning Friends the show is hilarious I even wish that they hadn't killed the antagonist of FF because they had potential to be recurring characters. Hopefully the series gets more episodes so they can find a balance between the crazy stuff and the more mundane making people smile plots, also this show does some incredible stuff with mixed media the Halloween blackface dude was really scary.
Congrats on Zach and company for their hard work!

It's hard not to feel bad for Stamper. He was molested as a kid and as much as he claims it doesn't bother him there's got to be unconscious psychological damage that fucked him up. He just seems like a sad guy who's trying to medicate the pain away. Shad is an unrepentant degenerate and it's hard to have sympathy for him. Complete opposite downward trajectories
