I've lived in a reservation town of ~1,200 people, small towns of less than 6,000 people and attended universities of ~2500 students. Community events or movie nights are certainly a thing that happens in these smaller, more remote areas. To give a little perspective on the reservation some of the members dubbed the 2015 Star Wars movie in our language and posted fliers advertising the movie viewing in the same small stadium we do rodeo and horse training. It was treated as really important that everyone showed up, and a lot of other events had the same expectation. The whole idea that the whole community got together for movie nights and shit sounds like some leave it to beaver type shit that just would not happen outside of the smallest, most tight knit community,
Moving to the city suburbs one of the first things I noticed is just how solitary a lot of households are so I think that could make it weird or far-off to imagine. I haven't even seen a block party in 6 years and I'm use to 2 a year where I grew up, it's just all a totally different experience.
I at least know DingDong lied about moving to the Deep South given mentioned times on stream, probably to try misleading would-be stalkers, but I'm fairly sure the truth is somewhere in the middle. As on-edge and distrusting the guy is he probably gave away that he doesn't want to get close to the community and took invitations the wrong way so they gave the two stink-eyes eventually. Pair that with the fact that people will make a habit to dislike anyone for everything and you have a receipt for silent adversity, especially if it's two gay dudes from LA and one of them is Mexican.I don't know how much of this I believe given Ding Dong is such an obnoxious paranoid schizo diva.
Given the timeline and DingDong's facetious quote of the event, "you're not a patriot if you don't watch this movie" it was almost definitely 'The Sound of Freedom' so good call there.
Obligatory 'this is just my opinion from my experience and giving DingDong some benefit of the doubt'.
Typing this out I considered that I don't think I've ever heard Julian complain about where they moved to. Maybe he just does a way better job keeping it to himself, or maybe DingDong was the one who had the issues.
