lyle is ok. i can see where you're coming from with some of the criticism of him but he's contributed positively to some great episodes.

part of it is what the other ppl on the couch "bring out" in chris. for some reason ding dong seemed to bring out a silliness and a looser, free-associating imaginative quality in chris that you don't really see much in more recent playthroughs. i think zach, besides being a comedy genius, also can bring creativity out of of chris, but ofc not when some other sperg is shouting the whole time....

Zach is incredibly funny but part of why Zach is so entertaining is that he can adapt to the other hosts.
He can be the wacky one but also a foil to other depending on the situation.

The most obvious example being Cory who's always the silly and loud one no matter with who he is.

To be fair, it's been a while since I've seen a Lyle episode. Maybe he has improved, I wouldn't know.

That being said, Lyle obviously loves the sound of his own voice and he frequently inserts himself into Chris and Zach's bits when he isn't just talking over them. He can also be kind of mean-spirited. I suspect most of these problems arise when Zach is present. It's like he's threatened by him in some way so he has to compete with him. I've seen a few Lyle episodes without Zach and he wasn't quite as bad. He seemed more willing to play the straight man.

Dynamic is important. It's amazing how the presence or absence of just one person can completely change the tone of an episode. RLM's Best of the Worst has this same problem I think. Ultimately it's subjective but I do believe that Lyle and Corey just don't mesh with the other three. They are loud personalities that dictate the flow of the episode.
…you seem to be randomly assuming, like…a LOT.

what is this /tv/ RLM thread level headcanon nonsense
People feel the need to jump through hoops to explain why them just not liking someone is somehow more morally valid than others that do enjoy them or are indifferent. It can’t just be “I don’t like thing/person.” anymore, it’s now “I don’t like thing/person, so thing/person must actually be secretly evil/horrible and I’m just so much more insightful than the people that do like thing/person.”

Tldr people need to stop trying to morally justify not liking something or someone.

Tbf this SteelPlatedHeart guy gives me some weird vibes, he may have murdered a gaggle of children in an abandoned Toys R' Us a few years back. Just something about him seems off, like the lights are on but nobodies home. I suspect he may be part of a cult or something.

Lyle's kind of right about Smallville, but I understand why his dad was upset about the teen angst. The first few seasons where fun monster of the week with some relationship drama sprinkled throughout, but by season 3 or 4 it focused a lot on Clark's and Lana's relationship. I stopped watching it when that happened so I have no idea if they went back to monster of the week.

Smallville was definitely the product of the 2000s as its Hot Topic-esque angst, emo aesthetic was made for tweens to young adults during that era. It also was the start of CW's trend of shitty dramas (I'm looking at you, Riverdale and Batwoman, you fucking piles of dogshit).

I figured they would have done the switch remake if they were doing links Awakening

Chris has gone on record to say he doesn't like the new art style so this isn't much of a surprise, but what I'm surprised more is that Cory is on the controls
God help them
Edit: Crisis averted, Tomar is on the controls so I trust him (totally not so I don't get shot right now help me)

Rewatching this certified banger of a series and hoping they play the huge update.

Really though, this is probably one of the best playthroughs to use as background noise.

I really hope they finish the series soon, its been a full year or so since the last part?
chris mentioned on a stream (iirc) that they finished the game; idk why they never edited/uploaded the videos.

YIIK is such an all-time-great playthrough, it's almost on another level. i guess some people enjoy all the donkey kong / sonic type stuff but personally I love when they play and react to more offbeat or weird games... for example Juice Galaxy ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=poSgRTb3ccg ), Adventures of Chris (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMXmVMK2wZ8) and Harvester (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Q5lD2taqfM)... REALLY wish they'd do more Harvester, but i accept this is the nature of oneyplays...

He's mentioned several times that he wants to do something special with the finale, while also wanting to give ding dong and julian input on the edit, since they live in another state its hard for their schedules to line up, its possible that during their recent visit to cali they got to help with it, but i wouldn't bet on it.
