The Nick Robinson thing woke me up to how bad the McElroy brothers had gotten. Of course I saw them turning into soulless money-hungry soyboys but seeing Griffin basically just drop a friend like that over what boiled down to "I regretted consensually sexting this guy a few years ago when I was of legal age and sound mind" was really disappointing. Especially the hypocrisy with how much of an incel Griffin was when he started MBMBAM, constantly whining over being single.
The whole thing was the nuttiest witch hunt and it was sad Nick never really got a redemption like ProJared or Vinny (vinesauce). The Narrative is still that Nick is a turborapist.

On the topic of the thread, if you guys are skipping over the animations people are making of oneyplays clips, you're missing out. There's some real funny stuff and great talent out there.

When I check his channel, he seems to be doing pretty alright views-wise.

Same here my nigga. If Oney was the brains and minds behind OneyPlays, Zach Hadel was the heart and soul.

Personally Ding Dong and Julian made the show for me. I know they have flaws but combined with Chris I was laughing so hard I didn't care. They are a very, VERY good comedy unit. Maybe the best on youtube. I cant think of anybody that comes close aside from maybe the shortlived but beautiful broken pixels run.

For some reason it took me a lot longer to enjoy everybody else. And even then I cant just watch ANYTHING they play. If it's something that bores me im not going to watch it.

I can watch paint dry with the original funny crew mocking it. When they came back to do Yick and everything else it was like Christmas.
 
God, same! It really was lightning in a bottle for me.

It helped that the three of them were genuinely interested in things I liked and stuff I grew up with. I loved hearing them rip into shitty old shows like Doug and tone deaf holiday specials. It always felt like one of them was showing off the game they picked to the others. The editing was always on point and there was usually a unique outro based on the last silly thing that was said. A let's play always works as background noise, but DD&J OneyPlays was genuinely fun to watch.
 
I think Zach is the funniest guest, but the dynamic between Chris, DD & Julian felt so natural. The way they bounced off of Chris' nonsense was so good. It was a bit difficult going from Rugrats jokes and funny noises to political and diarrhea jokes once Zach and Lyle joined.

The current dynamic is missing a straight man on the level of Ding Dong. The closest we have is Tomar, who is unfortunately (fortunate for him and his family) not as informed on random internet and other bullshit to follow some conversation. He's also way too nice even when doing bits and lacks the comical short temper needed in the boke and tsukkomi routine.
 
I like DangDeng but come on, at least one third of his straight man routine is "You can't do that! It doesn't work that way!"

Zach's political humor is actually refreshing compared to most. For one he is far more informed on shit than most others and secondly his jokes are just jokes and not thinly veiled masks for political statements. Like he can make fun of Trump without sounding like he is seething about Trump.
