Pretty confusing since you can hear many censored and uncensored faggots, especially during the DingDong and Julian era.
I soon realized that these kids were Let's Play channel secondaries and didn't actually watch Oney Plays at all.
Minors seem extremely likely to engage in fandoms without actually touching the source material and this even extends to Let's Plays..
I'm guessing they aren't watching full episodes but rather watch compilations from the post DD/Julian era.
They've been popping up a lot all over Youtube in the past few years but even then I wonder if bits like Jimmy Neutron being blackpilled would fly over their heads.
I second that even nowadays the majority of the Oneyplays fans are probably adults, though lets play channels can still attract kids by nature.

Never heard of the pirate game. Or the vore games... Write what you know, I guess. Man, what the fuck? Just pay someone to finish them at this point.
The pirate game is up on their patreon (you also have Trigger Treat there claiming to come out after Tough Bippy), also later this year have been there for well over a year now.
Freakout? Was this on Twitter or an episode of OP?
Julian used to call the audience underage a lot in episodes but you also have his Tumblr post https://jstar25.tumblr.com/Oneyplays

Julian complaining about being paid to sit on a couch, play video games and laugh at Chris's jokes while being thought of fondly by thousands of people really doesn't help me emphathize with him. He should try working at an assembly line for 9 hours a day 6 days a week, maybe his Bohemian lifestyle would look a lot rosier to him then.

Harry Partridge is making a "feature-length" Starbarians comic. The art looks amazing plus it supports Harry, I'll be getting the physical for sure.

Link to IndieGoGo Campaign

Cross-posting from his thread, Harry Partridge is making a comic of his animated series Starbarians. Harry appeared on Slightly Artistic a couple of times, stole the role of grease puddle from Chris-chan, and makes a lot of great animations. Support his IndieGoGo if you're into that sort of shit.

From my own understanding, both Julian and DingDong seem to have this principle or attitude that they have to earn their money through "real work" instead of through fame or popularity. Julian stated in his big Oneyplays post "I’ve always had personal scruples about making money without having earned it", and DingDong gets big donations during his streams that he refunds because he sees it as unfair I suppose. Personally I think they're just overthinking it all and everything is worth what people are willing to spend. Hell, they could even be using that donation money towards their games to make them as good as they could be, instead of turning up their noses to people who just want to support them, who see the cost as being worth it in it of itself.

I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt that the fans of anything on the Internet can be insufferable and living in a hellhole like LA can bring you around some really shitty people. Also having mental issues and a shitty upbringing fucks up a person. Sometimes you can't help when your brain be broke, but at least he is able to mostly hold it together. Ding Dong on the other hand I feel like just isn't cut out for that kind of online presence and not emotionally mature enough to deal with LA vultures. I think they're far from the worst people and I like their content with Chris, but sometimes you just aren't the kind of person for that field.

Also I haven't watched Oneyplays in months because its literally been the same three series and honestly I dislike Adam who is in two of them. I don't see his appeal and he brings literally nothing to the table other than being a warm body. He talks like he has 50 IQ and I have a theory he's a trust fund baby because he never has talked about work but has been all over the world. There's no way a mouthbreather like him has the means to do all that he has done just with his own ability.

I really don't know how the game has changed since release but if it's too gamey then that'd probably ruin it.
A ton has changed, guy has been hard at work. I like a lot of the changes in-concept, and they make it better as a game, but the one-man-group charm is kindof lost. Running a ghost around a table while everyone else freaked the fuck out was really amusing, but that's a good way to get killed anymore. Some of the newer maps and map reworks are great, though.
I found Chris and Zach as a Freshman in HS in the early 2010s through Hellbenders and have been following since and I think a decent amount of their fanbase has a similar story.
I think what makes it seem worse than it is is just how genuinely chronically online most kids are at this point
I get that they, of all LPers, probably have one of the older audiences because their starts weren't from just doing LPs. However - just because they used to do stuff on Newgrounds and did early Youtube animations, how does that prevent young people from finding them and then doing the parasocial shit that young people do with literally everyone on the platform?

There's no barrier to it. The channel has grown and grown and grown, and I have to imagine everyone that knew about them from NG/ early youtube... already subbed. Sure, a lot of people might be coming over from Smiling Friends, except that Smiling Friends is like Rick and Morty - it's just as massive among zoomies as it is among older people. Given just how much time kids seem to spend on the internet, it just doesn't add up to me for their channel to be as big as it is without a huge portion of that being teenagers and kids.

And being real, that's the smarter demographic to target for easy cash, anyways. I don't know where the fuck these kids and teens get money (youth employment stats have been in the dumper since well before covid), but they've got tons of money to toss out to patreon and on expensive merch. All you have to do is let a deeply autistic coomer monologue about things he wants to fuck and it prints green.

Yeah I don't get the love for Adam either. He's so dumb they can't even gaslight him because he just takes everything that's said to him at face value and moves on without even realizing he's being lied to. He also doesn't tell any jokes or interesting stories and he's terrible at video games so he just doesn't do anything but make inane comments you'd usually expect a little kid to make.

It doesn't prevent kids from watching I just think they still have a fairly sizable adult audience even at hti spoint.
I'm not saying it's no kids, just not as many kids as it may seem.

I don't know what it is about Adam, but he's just entertaining. His absolute retardation is honestly charming. Chris, Zach, Tomar, and usually Lyle have great senses of humor, but Adam is a great wild card and can cause some moments that have made me laugh really hard (like thinking the carriage driver in Hogwarts Legacy was pretending to have horses or actually finding Sans's puns funny, though the latter was mostly because of Chris's incredulous laughter at him). I think the comedy from Adam, for me at least, comes from the other guys laughing at the bizarre shit he says and does more so than him making good jokes.

Like just the mere idea of someone sending their parents a video of them kamehameha-ing is so insanely stupid but Chris and especially Lyle's reactions just make it even better

Also I think a big part of why Adam is a more consistently entertaining guest than Cory is that he's much much easier to control and easier to ignore when he isn't being funny. Cory at his worst is yelling over people, derailing the conversation with pointless tangents, or being a disgusting degenerate. Adam at his worst is just stupid or disinteresting.

Isn't he his roommate? And didn't they move into a house recently? Is Adam his sugar daddy????
