I'm just gonna come out and say it.

Nerds, in general, are not terribly funny people. In fact, nine times out of ten, they're about as funny as finding out you have bone cancer.

I think the key thing is that to be funny, you have to be on some level quite socially aware and adept - you need to understand what would make another person laugh. Nerds, by nature, are not these things.

It doesn't help that, in my experience, people who are in the comedy scene tend to be quite hard to make laugh, primarily because they do that for a living.

So, you've got people who are not very good at something desperately trying to impress people they admire for doing that thing, doing the thing badly.

Honestly, I could not have said it better myself. You've done a way better job explaining why nerds are unfunny.

If you want my honest two cents about this, the short version is that shit like Big Bang Theory and Channel Awesome had ruined the idea of nerd culture and the "comedy" behind it all

Cory mentioned him to Chris, I think it may have been in the wind waker playthrough but he and Dave knew some of the lore and Chris was completely in the dark about it
I remember cory's explanation of Dobson was something along the lines of "He was a guy who couldn't stop talking about inflation"

I'm surprised would be entirely oblivious about Dobson. And leave it to Cory to describe something in one of the least accurate ways.
 
Someone clipped the whole hypothetical from Forspoken that went on from like two-three episodes.

i swear there was an oneyplays convo where zach discussed his comic about defending the cosplayer and how a photo from the con showed what actually happened.
 

This sounds like something Zach would have made up and honestly I don't even know if it's real.
 
My favorite part of today's Sonic Forces video is when Adam was telling a story and Cory started yelling "I CAN'T HEAR SONIC!" And Adam just apologizes and stops talking. He knows not to get between an autist and his blue blur
