I won't pretend I haven't put dozens of hours into it, but there was definitely a point where I questioned why I was still playing. It's literally just leveling and catching with none of the character writing or world design that gives Pokemon an edge. It'll be interesting to see what Game Freak puts out on Switch 2.

They constantly get over a million views per video, Armenian Cory merch made trillions of dollars, and Zach still makes time to record with the boys even though he's a big shot now. They're fine, unless Tomar starts that whole "genocide the Palestinians" thing again.

IIRC he has been struggling with his back problems but is still working on some long-term project that's been taking a while.
To me it seems like he's doing a lot, including losing weight and getting in shape.

Oney has chronic backpain and is working full time on Bowlbo, Zach just finished Smiling friends season 2, Tomar works as a voice actor full time, Lyle still makes videos and Cory is a gross degenerate. Also, Newground was always full of kids and manchildren even back when it was relevant. I was like 9 years old when I discovered it and 11 or 12 when I made my first account. If you are serious about growing and audience as an artist you need to use twitter or Instagram not Newgrounds to spread your work.

I think this only seems like a lull to people who don't care too much for Cory. If you're a big Cory guy this is the good times, I guess.

I have to ask how OP content that isn't "stale" would look. They're pretty much what Game Grumps should have been in the first place, and they're doing well for themselves. They're doing just about what you would expect them to, all they have to do is keep covering games. No shortage of them, old or new ones. Everybody falls off eventually, but if this is the boys at their worst, I don't think they have anything to worry about. Youtube is too sterile right now to give them a serious competitor.

There are probably dozens of critics that put it a lot better than me, but anyone toting it as "The Pokemon Killer" was just being asinine or are extremely scorned ex-fans who don't even know what makes up the parts they like of the games they play. Stating that isn't a defense of Game Freak's poor practices either.

It's laughable seeing even TemTem have a better player retention rate 1-month-after-peak (24%) over Palworld (12%). How much Palworld sold is no laughing matter and good for the devs too, they can finance whatever they want for the next decade, but that whole release was a fundamental show of shitty journalism, projecting onto a company, and how shallow many consumers are with choices and observations.

This is following decades of any other monster collector being called a Pokemon clone too. Really makes me wish people could be a little more aware when they say things like that. But time will tell if Palworld manages to retain an actual cult which is the point that it could at all contend with Pokemon, but I won't bet on it. They'll need to find some way to replicate or replace Pokemon's core charms for a shot at that and it's something a lot of devs so far haven't managed.

I know I'm 3 days late to this so spare me the 🕰️ ratings but the recent Rugrats roleplay video is easily the best they've put out in months. You can't beat the Chris, Zach, Tomar and Lyle combination.

I think it can be compared to how some pieces of media (like Suzerain) take place in worlds heavily inspired by our own compared to actual historical strategy. Or how there's retro-inspired media compared to media that actually came out decades ago. I feel like it's one of those things that has a feeling that (usually) can't be replicated.
