That's really the biggest Issue I have with Corey, he's only funny when he Isn't trying to be, and I feel like nowadays he tries to be funny but his rotted brain is too stupid to actually make a coherent sentence let alone a joke.

Lyle is pretty good at that, but I do wonder if they purposely let Corey go off the rails for content since some people really like it when Corey start yelling over stupid shit. I really like the one clip from sonic generations where Lyle and Corey are talking about Sonic Frontiers and Lyle just keeps shutting down Corey when he tries to say the trailer didn't look bad.

Oh dude they 1000% do. They know a large chunk of the audience loves his ranting and allow him to go on and on with it. To me though the shit about Coke Coffee, or Wal-mart or whatever mundane thing he's upset with and is yelling about is simply annoying. Cory also clearly knows the audience likes it so he will do forced rants that you can tell he's not even really passionate about. It just sucks. The older I get the less funny his manchild rage becomes.

Smiling Friends is also huge now. I'm sure they were having these problems during the show's early drafts. But I feel like by this point, when Smiling Friends is on pace to be Adult Swim's #1 show. Adult Swim would be doing themselves a disservice by not allowing them more freedom with what they can do.

I forget what video it was but in a recent video Corey was raging and they asked "Wait, are you actually mad?" and he replied "Oh, no it was just a bit"

The problem is, Cory is actually funny. But not when he actively decides to be. He can be funny by accident and on purpose, but these things have to come to him naturally in the moment. He cannot be "funny on command".

He has "too aware of own audience" syndrome, which renders any genuinely funny entertainer into a tryhard hack.
He noticed people liked it when he occasionally screamed or ranted, but could not understand what it was about it that was well-received. So now he does it a lot because people seem to like it.

It's much more obvious with Game Grumps, but the person essentially flanderizes themself.

The biggest problem for Cory being funny is that neither the OneyPlays crew, the audiences and especially Cory himself have zero clue as to how or when he can be funny
 
Was listening to some sleepycast and I just find it funny how Nial is the one who catches the most shit. Every group has that guy, and Ol Cryburger being the designated shitting street is so funny. Particularly because he had a tendency of taking it personally. Like when he was compared to old playstation graphics :story:
