It's a reference to The Green Knight.I always see people take green and retired to mean that he's literally green, but I've always taken it to mean green in the sense of an inexperienced person, so it's a play on that he's retired but never actually learned or accomplished anything. Am I over thinking it?
If you retire him, he retires you double in return.
Or it's just a silly in joke. Zach finally turns green.
