Boneyplays last year was pretty miserable. Pools is probably one of the laziest, most boring games they've ever played, only held up by the fact that Zach was there. Same thing for that Sirenhead game. I know the commentary is what a lot people come for but seriously, I can only stand so many walking sims.

I really hope they explore the Nextbots again. Hopefully with all of them playing at once, it was hilarious the first time and it'd be even funnier with all of them running around in it and making stupid bots of Cory and other funny creatures. It'd be better than Cory strangleholding everyone into another FNAF game that none of them are into.

They're just going to play Security Breach though.

I kinda get the feeling that they've been soft sunsetting the channel for a while now, and Chris mentioning their backlog running dry makes me believe it a little bit more. But the fact he's always been upfront about this just being ez money for him while still caring enough to try to get all his friends to hang out and record is based. I don't think he'll end the channel before he releases his game, but I'll surely miss it when it eventually ends.

I get the feeling that if Chris is successful with any project(s) then he'll suddenly stop the channel, but if he fails or never releases Bowlbo, he'll milk it with usually only 1 guest for the next decade.

No chance. Chris is one of the few people who has an infinite money glitch he can use to fund whatever he wants even if everything he puts out fails financially repeatedly until he dies. It would be fucking retarded to stop, and he probably feels the same way about this since he said outright "yeah I know it's gay but it's stupid of us to not capitalize on pumping out 30 daily compilations" or whatever. Gaming content these days is incredibly hard to actually make money on since the genre is so saturated, the fact he got in on it early and established a dedicated viewerbase that's still with him is basically like hitting the lottery twice. To have that and then throw it away would be monumentally mongoloidal.
 
Chris subtly admitting he has to settle for Cory because actual people are hard to wrangle to come on the show is some nice transparency.

Based on them talking about spooOoOoky stuff in the Newgrounds office on the recent Lost Levels episode, it sounds like they record there a lot of the time and Cory is just always there. Convenient, I guess.

Ironic because Cory and Dave (and Jeff) have to be flown out from Philly whereas most of the other cast are in/near Burbank anyways.

Also, lukewarm take, but the compilations aren’t terrible and can actually be quite funny if they find an interesting category. There’s a joke in the YouTube comments about an “OneyPlays breathing compilation” video coming soon and, while I think that would be dumb, I could see an OneyPlays burping/farting compilation being funny in a really infantile way. Seriously, the amount of times they flub lines from burping and then proceed to roast each other could fill a decently long video.

To add onto this. Chris employs people to do a lot of this work for him. His manager, editors, thumbnail artists, uploaders and compilers. He even mentions that he employs people to specifically make compilations because they are some of the most popular videos on the channel. What I'm saying is, there's probably a small group of people who are genuinely making a living doing work for Oneyplays.

Now I don't think this is a situation like the Game Grumps. Where they have some stupid, unnecessary office building and a bunch of unneeded employees because the owner wants to feel like a big, important CEO man. Most of these people are probably working via Emails or a messenger like Discord. But still, these people such as the manager (I think his name was HelixD?) are really the ones running the channel. They're the ones giving us daily uploads while Chris is away, vacationing in Europe right now. I can guarantee, Chris probably hasn't used the Oneyplays channel personally in years now, he has someone to do it for him.

I feel I should say, there's nothing wrong with this. It's less work for him, allowing him to work on his game and live very comfortably, while also providing a source of income for people who might not be able to apply their specific talents elsewhere. Chris and the rest of the funny boys just record the videos. While there are people in the background keeping this upload schedule and actually making the videos we watch. I have no source for any of this, I don't know exactly how Oneyplays functions behind the scenes, I don't know if they're actually employees or something else. But there are people who make money off this channel who aren't just the main faces.

Where I'm going with this is: Even if Chris wanted to end the channel tomorrow, I think he'd have his reservations about basically leaving, however many people who work for his channel without work. Especially the people who have done most of the grunt work for him while he sits and plays video games (he barely plays them as is). With how lucrative Oneyplays is, I just don't see it ending soon. It may be getting stale but the money hasn't dried up yet. Oneyplays has always and will always be a side gig, even if it's Chris' main form of income and it has been a major part of his life. It's not his main aspiration, it will always be in his best interest to make as much money as he can from it.
