You thought OneyPlays fans were bad and parasocial, I can't fathom how unbearably cringey it must be to have to go to conventions and have these people try and interact with you, acting like you're their friends. Imagine like 10 of that weird tranny fanart person from earlier in the thread. Zach has mentioned the Rick and Morty musical.ly/TikTok people, so he knows.

Or maybe they got approached by Funko and just knew it was over, idk.
 
I do wonder if the bidding War between Netflix and Paramount over Warner bros. had some effect on Behind-The-Scenes stuff for the show.

I could see this as a possibility, "good job guys you made a show that sticks in everyone's mind! Here's how we want seasons 4 and 5 to go: *list of retarded wokeshit demands and forced moralizing storylines to the captive audience who loves the show*"

If they lost creative freedom, I can't blame them for hitting some contract exit clause and leaving.
 
Season 3 is a fine spot to end things: it felt like a by-the-numbers redux of Season 1 with a bunch of callbacks. By the time The Bug asks Mr. Frog about his computer problems the relatable mumbling conversations about relatable things is played out. All they have left is fun cameos, and those are a dwindling resource too.

The last season of Smiling Friends was showing signs of things slowing down. They pretty much ended Mr. Frog's arc and lore dumped Glip's entire backstory. My guess is that we will see the continue degeneration of Charlie leading to some intervention episode and that will be the end of his arc too, but I don't really know what they can do with Pim since his character is put together and optimistic but not blindly positive.
 
It would be cool if it continued as a short form thing. Pim's new eyes and Walt Dimsey were really funny.
 
Season 3 felt the most, "I think he said this or some variation of this joke on Oneyplays" of all the seasons. I still enjoyed it but I think Zach was getting a little tapped for material. If they ever make more it'll be much more fresh.

They don’t want to go out like Mister Frog, having corporate midwits grind down all the edges that made them beloved, to the point the only way they could come back is by eating said midwits live on-air.
Not that they wouldn’t want to do that, but that’s Tomar’s schtick.

The oneyplays subreddit is actually alright. Almost all political/current events references that I've seen have been clearly comedic. And anyone trying to steer anything in the usual reddit direction gets downdooted (as they should).
 
The xitter algorithm gave me a handful of Oneyplays-adjacent accounts recently and one of them was a girl who was a big Cory fan. She drew chibi Cory and shipped him with chibi Chris. She also drew them both in that weird "Pim in heat" style making out and shit. I don't like having the knowledge that these people still exist. I thought we left that behind in the 00s
