Jokes aside I know they start slow every year but I don't recall them ever taking this long. I thought they used to pick up the upload pace around mid February and we're already one week into March and still getting like one episode weekly. Maybe channel DID end in 2025 and we're left with ZombiePlays.

Elaborate. How's it weird to make dumb knick knacks for your fans to buy? As far as I know, Chris doesn't have a patreon or anything. The plushes and stickers and shit are a way for the fans to send support without it just being free money with nothing to show for it. DD&J are probably just gay commies (redundant) who think they get to live life for free just because they're artistic

I mean it is a little bit weird to own a plushie of a 44 year old man. Or own plushies of real people in general.

I've been watching everything with early DingDong I skipped on earlier and (begrudgingly) giving some stuff with Cory a shot, and it really made me realize how important it is to to have someone on the channel who unequivocally likes video games. It sounds obvious when you say it out loud, but Chronicles of Mystara really hit me in the head with a hammer that DingDong was just glad to pick up a game, show it to a friend, and play it from start to finish, time permitting. It makes me imagine the difference between then and now was Chris or DingDong just grabbing a favorite or some dumb bullshit, versus now it feels like everyone drools their way into picking one.

It's been said once or twice in this thread that Cory is the only reason they finish any games currently, and unfortunately he has the 'tism for really only sticking to games he knows he'll like. Anything else it feels like he was dragged in to have a 3rd on the couch and those are probably the worst. Cory also lacks any eloquence when describing why or what he likes about a game but I'll give him credit where it's due for trying in the channel's current state.

Just had a thought that if Cory was willing to get more into his interactions in the western-porn-commission-sphere that would be good for some laughs and anecdotes. It'd feel similar to Chris trying to get Julian to talk about gay furry stuff, except Cory would gleefully go on about it probably. Unless something's stopping him. Client relations probably. The one thing I'm aware of him bringing up is hating peoples' Lion King OCs. Couldn't blame him off that description alone.

I would probably buy more merch from them if it was actual quality, functional stuff. I think younger fans tend to like the plushies. No offense to them but I don't need a Zach doll. Whereas I wear my BoneyPlays hoodie almost every single day, it's warm and has good pockets, and it holds up well in the wash. Just glad I bought one while they still had them.

It’s probably the biggest problem with the channel right now. Chris doesn’t like a large majority of video games. He has a very limited interest in games, Dark Souls, and Resident Evil is basically it. He has very low patience for anything he hasn’t played or anything that isn’t a instant gratification, braindead game. It does not surprise me at all that Chris started to just play around with AI more.

I remember a case where this particularly irritated me was with Kirby Super Star. Dave tries to get Chris or Zach to play the multiplayer. The Multiplayer where the second player has a ton of freedom and effectively has infinite lives. And he just doesn’t want to. Could of been a fun thing, but nah, just gotta lie on the floor and watch.

Thankfully Oneyplays has almost always had other guests there to pick up the slack. Ding Dong obviously brought so much to the channel, obscure games, having great knowledge about games, Julian made both Kingdom Hearts playthroughs happen. Lyle has more knowledge of games from the 2000s and 2010s and usually brought those to the table. Tomar is usually the one playing the game in 90% of the videos he shows up in. Cory has an insane tolerance for Sonic games and Dave is there usually to play Nintendo games.

But then you gotta think, DD&J are long gone, Lyle is presumably busy with his own life, Tomar moved to the other side of the country and Cory and Dave have to be traveled to.

Why does this guy have a video game channel again?

Addendum: Something I've been thinking about. Ding Dong usually had a preferance for playing games physically on real hardware. And they also had access to the Game Grump's library of games and equipment, alongside Ding Dong's own personal collection. That's probably the reason why game diversity is so great during that era. Ding Dong was probably picking through the collection looking for fun, obscure things to play. This has all been lost in recent years. Just something to think about there.

Probably because the exact same timeline as Arin.
1) Be an animation guy.
2) Let's Plays are trending, or they feel like dumping videos.
3) It makes much, much more money for less effort.
4) Continue.

He mentioned some stream losing at least half of that after moving from LA. Mostly Wii, GameCube, and N64 if I remember correctly. You hate to hear it.

Julian actually has a fairly decent taste in games whenever he gets to pick one, I think. Cyber Sleuth was actually really entertaining and you get the fun element of someone just showing something that they like. Some of the DingDong streams are Julian playing some picks from DD's collection for the first time too which has been great, so far it's been some Silent Hill. If someone gets frustrated at a game DingDong does a good job with the "hey, just take it easy - just try again" which is a strong element to have. Silly as it is to tell late 20-and 30-somethings that. Have to wonder how much of that was in OneyPlays too.

A cursed consideration came to me late at night; how awkward would this trio be? Yes that is what Stamper looks like now.

All these years we have debated who was the worst Oneyplays cast member. Now we know, it was Oney all along.

I had more video games than anyone I knew as a kid and most of them were shit, and Bubsy was one of the worst and also one of my favorites because it felt like playing an actual cartoon. Luckily Earthworm Jim came along and did the same thing but good.

It's a good pick for the channel because it's not as incompetent as the 2.5D one he played with DD&J but it's janky enough and has a lot of oddball design choices that they have stuff to comment on. Could be a decent series. Fuck they won't stick with it will they
 
That's it. That's the sauce right there. All kino series are either Chris playing a game he's mastered to the point where he can riff with the other cast members (RE, Dark Souls), the cast member has mastered it and can riff along with the other two (RE, Dark Souls, Graffiti Kingdom, Kingdom Hearts, Undertale,CIV, Sonic), it's a game that no one has mastered but it's entertaining and borderline Streamerslop (Witch Hunt, Skinwalker Hunt), OR it's just a screaming generator (all BoneyPlays, RE). I'm also weirdly Dave biased so pinch if salt and all that
