Seems like he's addicted to far worse things, but Twitter definitely ain't helping.
He's very susceptible to the false positive feedback loop he gets into through Twitter, I don't know if it's still the case with this Chris episode but when I looked before it's always people egging him on and fueling him into more meltdowns with yas queens and what not.

Playing it myself nearly 2 years ago (holy shit time flies!), I completely agree. Luckily theyre funny enough to make it through the hell which is this game. It also got a major QOL update recently, so I'm looking forward to see what changes were added.
Going off that first episode, they definitely streamlined the battle system. And thank god for that.

Loading and Alex’s monologues are still there though

God the jokes they would make if they played the whole thing without wanting to end themselves. There’s just so much material!
I almost choked up from the steven universe bit chris did, and telling Matt Hawkins to fuck off

Did YIIK come out recently? I started seeing a bunch of bad press for it all of a sudden

Omori came out recently and got some attention for being a proper way to release a game in that kind of genre, but more importantly there's this:
Which was also a year ago, but still. DD&J have sometimes done playthroughs of "games with potential that is utterly wasted" on streams, like their Night in the Woods playthrough. I imagine they played through this before and want to share the pain with their good pal Chris.

It’s probably back in the public eye because they recently released a massive patch that completely overhauled the gameplay and redid a rather infamous scene regarding a character coming to terms with their younger sister’s death and a lore dump.....immediately interrupted by a boss fight with a golden alpaca that shouts “lemonade” when it attacks.

Anyway, look at this cool animation.

The best review about YIIK is probably Running Shine's. It is long, but it's well worth it and I hope he makes more videos like the such.

I could watch YIIK reviews all day. The fact that every one of them makes the shitty dev seethe is just icing on the cake. The guy makes Phil Fish look humble.
Also thanks for the link, I was trying to find that stream with no luck.

Yeah, it's unlinked so you have to have that exact address. Not entirely sure why, but eh. It's a quality stream - a friend tried to get me to check the game out with the premise alone, which sounded like a real banger. Turns out the game was written by complete fucking children, though, so DD&J saved me a solid $20 from the past.

YIIK is another one where there's just... I like the idea of a hatable protagonist, I like the weird art style, I like the kitschy post-ironic humor, I like the idea of sometimes having an attack minigame. But my fucking god it's just the sum total and the writing are so bad and no-one put thought into it. Drives me up a wall, so I'm so excited to see what happens to Chris.

YIIK suffers from interesting ideas and utterly horrible execution.

I’ll throw in another long review that’s actually pretty entertaining to watch.
