To my understanding this actually did happen, but no, Merel didn't actually crush a watermelon with her thighs, it was just a stupid, tasteless joke at a meetup. Several important details because I've had conversations about this with autists:
1. Merel was an adult, not a minor. By my memory, she was the oldest VA of the three MCs.
Even if my memory is foggy, I can prove it with information you posted above: Dutch people typically begin university at 18 or later, Merel began at ArtEZ in 2017, while Ongezellig came out in July 2018, meaning that this meetup would have taken place in late 2018 or even later. The absolute youngest she would have been here is around 18-19, but again, to my memory, she was older.
2. She wasn't ganged up on, or being prowled on, she was surrounded by friends.
3. When the series initially came out, there were instances of VAs receiving harassment from the fanbase, prompting MD to create rules about it.
It was a weird joke that wasn't taken too seriously and then became a community in-joke which has been taken out of context to spin lies, nobody was in danger or being groomed.
Grain of salt with this, I'm working off of memory, it's been years. This should be mostly accurate, if you really wanted all the details, your best bet would be to go make friends with Darkie and ask him, though I am skeptical it would pan out.
