Editing the site live is on me but whatever, in the industry we call it "agile development". Oh no ratings are fuckywucky for a few hours. What a shame.

The issue with the database errors is that the site's database is incredibly large and active. It was on a larger disk, but that large disk couldn't handle the load, so I've moved it to NVMe, which is much faster but that's much much smaller. It runs out of space because I do backups pretty frequently and those consume disk space. These are the problems that come with running a very large site. Usually a company can hire people to deal with them and just throw more hardware at it, but it's just me, my server, and whoever happens to be around that I trust enough to help.

Every attempt at a non "Fuck you KF!!" or "Fuck you Josh!!" thread is kinda depressing. They just start a thread topic, awkwardly try to make small talk about it for maybe two or three posts split across anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. Then they get bored and return to the Null megathread or the KF megathread, because that's the main reason they're there. It's not a KF alternative, it's a place to talk meta and vent about Josh and the jannies, paid for by a delusional 60 year old lolcow.

Wow, this is so unprofessional. This rating fuckup, done on a whim, jeopardizes the core product. This would be unacceptable in an agile development team.

Which is it? Should I implement ideas on a whim? Try out strange ideas just to see what happens, even if it may not roll out perfect and need some tinkering? Or is this a super sterile corporate environment where any issues are an unacceptable brand image casualty?

I try to take people seriously when they air grievances but this is silly. I've literally come up with something specifically based off things SIG said about the environment and am in the process of implementing, now he sits on the sidelines saying this implementation timeframe is unacceptable. It's nonsense. It's bitching for the sake of it.

People complain like we pay to use the farms. I don’t think any of them have ever done backend server work for a large userbase before. You wouldn’t see the farms go down because there would be test servers, stress testing, and all kinds of shit done before it went live. even with people giving money and BAT/other crypto I know it’s no where enough to have a dedicated test server. complaints like that just confuse me because they seem to know just enough to be like “what a dumb ass lol” Or don’t understand it at all and in that aspect I kinda get why they complain if you don’t know what’s going on.

I literally cannot charge credit cards in conjunction with this site. It's just not feasible.

It's also not really a good idea.

Interesting but also wrong. It's entirely what other people want to do with it. I can only change shit like reactions. I can stop people from posting. I can't decide if people are going to sign up and use the forum to do anything more than threaten to kill people on it. Getting people to give as much of a shit as you do is the hard part.
