This is completely out of the current discourse, but I've been thinking at how blender, a FOSS 3D software, in 2022 was downloaded about 15 million times. And yet the amount of people who joined the fund, or even donated once was much less than a million.
It's sad, because everyone shoots out ideas on what to fix and what new features and yet there's basically no funding to do implement those fixes and ideas at a reasonable pace. Most people I talked to are dead tired of Maya for all sorts of reason, some of them even use blender at home. Yet it's still not "production ready" due to some features that require lots of work which is outside of the realm of possibility as of now.
And then there's people who donate monthly to shit like the Goo engine, which is a spit in the face since it took blender, modified and paywalled it without even contributing to the upstream.
Or those who pay monthly for stuff they never use, and yet there's something here that could use a bit of extra funding to become even better than it already is.
If possible, donate something to the blender fund, there is a "one time only" option, and money sent to the blender fund will be deployed to help blender's development, unlike wikipedo that uses it for God knows what these days.
What makes me TMI was that one time a couple of months ago where some retards were DDoSing the Blender.org website, which is the reason why it now blocks ToR connections.
oh, by the way, someone made Doom run in blender:
go gaslight Null into donating

Even those dumb coomers that love those 3D animations should have figured out by now that more than half of those are made in Blender and not SFM anymore.
Someone I know told me that the issue may be that the blender's splash screen. It's clean and it's not begging for people to donate. There is a heart along the various options which links to the fund.blender.org website, but maybe we should tell them to put a giant "PLEASE DONATE" banner on the splash screen?
