Just use ffplay. No interface at all. But it works with keybinds still.

Looks like lunduke just talked about KDE releasing a statement saying everyone using Twitter is a Nazi. So basically just agreeing with the GNOME people.
Idk I'm happy just using hyprland. I think tiling is a better way of using your computer once you get used to running things from keybinds. Plus I can avoid any of these projects. Since I was already avoiding them because I think they suck, and the reasons people like replicating the windows workflow, is because that's what they already know.

Holy moly I had no idea just how niggerlicious Win 11 is. Downloading Librewolf from Edge, as you do, and I get this faggot ass popup "Uwooh the app you are trying to install is not from the Microsoft Store! Oopsie!!!". Turns out the store shipped it with "S" mode, which only allows for M$ Store apps to be installed. Fine, whatever, but the endless fucking adds and 10 gigs of RAM being devoured for no reason is legitimately enraging. Has anyone tried running Adobe (photoshop, illustrator) apps via Winboat? I'm guessing not great since there is no GPU passthrough. Peeps on hackernews and reddit give conflicting reports, so I figured its worth an ask. The moment I can normie-proof running this stuff on Mint is the day I fully rid myself and my loved ones of the blight that is M*crosoft.

To defend Theo here, the software he recommended in place of VLC, IINA, is a (mac only, he likes to recommend mac only software and this has bitten him in the ass before, see Arc Browser) free video player built on mpv https://github.com/iina/iina No idea why he said "they're both powered by ffmpeg" when IINA doesn't advertise this and only seems to rely on ffmpeg insofar as it's built on mpv.

Why does everything have to be a "community", lol? It seems like it has only downsides. My computer is an appliance like anything else in my house. I am glad that the engineers of my Maytag washer and dryer do not have to hang around a bunch of smelly creeps trying to 'make the washing machine community more welcoming'

iina depends on mpv which uses ffmpeg, so it also uses ffmpeg
and i checked my vlc and it seems to depend on a bunch of vlc plugins, which depend on stuff like... libx264... libmatroska... hmm, what's missing here... oh right it doesn't really depend on fucking ffmpeg!
so not only is this nigger retarded, he seems to be completely wrong too
i didn't bother to check all of the dependencies of vlc and see every build configuration so i might be the wrong one here but it's not out of the question that a retarded javascriptlet like this could be this wrong
free software is frequently fully open to development by anybody in the world who is able to write a patch. (but not always! some projects don't accept contributions if you violate their 400 page long community code of conduct and some others don't accept them at all. they still qualify as free software though because you can make and share your own patches without involving the original authors. (see: xlibre and any fork of anything really)) this is a good thing, because any random retard with sufficient autism can improve the software, and not only for himself, but for anybody else who uses it
back in the day this was done using a mailing list. gnu (which you rarely see in this thread) still uses mailing lists for most of its software, which is one of the reasons why i said in a parenthetical that it's rarely seen in this thread
of course in the 2010s reddit niggers fucked things up by making it have to be a "community" and not a "here's the designated shitting street for bug reports and the receptacle for your patches, now go nuts"-type deal

My boy's most recent ADHD fried dopamine tranny distraction is learning German. Nothing wrong with that in on its own, but when viewed alongside his other recent detours, a pattern emerges. Just two weeks ago, he was learning Japanese. Earlier this summer he had a two-month long graphomanic spergout where he did fuck all except create schizophrenic scribbles until his entire Mastodon feed was page upon page of trannybabble (now deleted), resulting in the grim birth of libreboob.org. After that, he had about a week of good work done on Libreboot where he announced that he's porting all MrChromebox chromebooks to Libreboot, only to get one commit out the door before getting distracted again by Invidious and writing a large self-hosting guide for Arch. I can only wonder what the next distraction might be. In the meantime, the replies to his latest post about learning German are, as to be expected of Mastodon, loony & troony:
