some log file builds up with gigabytes of shit and my email daemon crashes from out of disk errors like every 3 months. having to log in and restart it is annoying and Red Hat inflicted this mild inconvenience on me. also they're open source vampires who smother projects for profit. fuck them

Can't you make make a script that clears the log file automatically after a set ammount of time in less than ten minutes?

I could do this effortlessly but I don't care enough and would rather rant at software vampires like Red Hat. Troon squads with "punch nazi" fag stickers on their macbooks taking control over open source projects and then destroying them. That's a paid activity for Red Hat employees. There's something very fundamentally wrong with what they do and how they operate. I expect big inquisitions into their ouroboros of shitfuckery as these kind of issues enter the general zeitgeist.
 
Apparently Rust NIH Coreutils people are struggling to re-implement 100% compatibility with GNU Coreutils. Covered by our favorite small hat tribe member, so probably some inaccuracies to be expected.

Ubuntu 26.04 LTS is supposed to have the rustutils right? That's going to suck.

Hypothetically if someone was to make a closed source OS that steals from Linux things like the kernel and the Cinnamon DE (but re-does package management to be closer to have Mac OSX does it with sane version management), what would be the legal consequences for doing so?

Specifically which log is filling up? I've had the same issue with Docker, that doesn't do log rotation by default, you can configure it to send all container logs to a syslog server, configure the syslog daemon to log to files and rotate them (if using systemd-journald it already listens on syslog, you just need to configure log file destinations and logrotate, or if not using systemd, you should already have rsyslog or something that understand syslog, writing a custom logrotate config is also extremely easy)

Cloudflare reverse engineered Wordpress using Claude Code. Its marketed as "more secure" (uses more RAM), but the main goal was obviously to strip the GPL, since their new version (100% TypeScript) is MIT licenced rather than GPL. Emdash is the future, there is simply no other safe way to build a website!

Everyone understands they will immediately be sued by the full power of Microsoft if they do this (and quite frankly Microsoft probably won't be too shy about using violence).
