That's an optimistic way of looking at it, but I guarantee something happened to prompt that response. There's a reason this site has one; people made a habit of signing up with identifiable information, getting doxed, and then complaining, however this site is literally dedicated to doing shit like that. Yes, there are phishers everywhere, but godot is just a humble game engine and it's not one's first thought that you're liable to get blackmailed or whatever when interacting with such a community. And looking at the date, this announcement was last month though the discord server has existed for years, so why make this announcement now? Ergo, something happened and this is the mod response to it.
So fair enough, it's good that they're acknowledging whatever it was, but this is not just a random security checkup.
I still want to know who /ourguy/ is though lol

It's actually a pessimistic one. I believe something happened that should prompt such a response on any larger discord but they rather sweep it under the rug than warn people.

So I joined the server to see what I could find, and it looks like this is probably a case of bog standard phishing. Can't really find anything surrounding the feb 12th post, but plenty of talk about some steam scammer, astonishing people fall for this kind of shit. Shame! I was hoping for a good story.
A shocking number of pronouns in bio I have to say —honestly I really should have searched the term "egg" before leaving the server. Now, if you're looking for good related tech talk I recommend the Vulkan Community discord server, minimal off topic, no tranny talk, just tech talk about vulkan with a fair few big maintainers present. It's a great resource.
In hopes of avoiding low effort NIGGER posters spamming it, I'm not posting a public invite but it's just a couple duckduckgo searches away if this sounds interesting

What I meant was expecting transparency from these particular specimens is optimistic, but in this case it seems it wasn't the kind of thing a tranny janny would be interested in covering for.

The funny thing is Stallman (surely) has autism. From his views on children, eating shit off his foot, his statement on Job's death, his rider for given speeches, among many other things point to autism (or some other thing). These people are bullying some one who seemingly does not have the ability to understand societal norms and social clues.

If you made a version of the trolley problem where a trolley was headed for Stallman tied to the tracks or every single signatory and supporter to this fucking bullshit, and you could flip the switch any way you chose, I'd definitely run over all these evil SJW fucks. Same here. My parents were very early adopters of personal computers and the internet, and when we got our very first dial-up modem they hammered into me the idea that you don't just tell people personal information online. Doubly so if it's a public website or service. And that stuck with me.
Of course, people now live their entire lives online so I guess it makes sense to them to wave around their location, age, sex and mental illnesses like extremely dumb flags.

He is obviously seriously mentally ill with diminished responsibility but that is not an excuse for making excuses for paedophilia. This site goes so far into screaming rage at SJWs that people are apparently willing to ignore someone speculating about raping kids because they hate them so much. That's the problem. I don't give half a shit about Stallman's views on the age of consent or trannies or whatever the fuck. If he's caught diddling kids or in possession of pedophilia, then throw the fucking book at him and let him rot in jail. But he's not there for his hot takes, he's there for his technical and organizational skills. Which is what people on a council like that should be there for. If Stallman starts trying to kick out other people for their political views, then I'll start railing on him as well.
Minor PL: I'm not even in IT. I'm an engineer who's curious about the subject. But the company I work for develops its own software, and I'm close to the development team. These guys are very much interested in the open source software community, and they really don't like the brain drain that's resulting from politics being placed above technical expertise and very good developers and their contributions being removed from projects because they once called a 6'6 man in a dress and a blue wig a "tranny". It's very hard to find a very competent programmer who isn't at some level an awkward idiot who can't read a room, and if you kick these guys out you end up with Mozilla, who went from having the best browser out there with ~40% market share to a comparative piece of shit with less than 4%.

He doesn't make excuses for it, he discusses it from a philosophical perspective, much in the way that philosophers like Peter Singer discuss bestiality or Gary Becker talks about the ethics of selling organs. Being fairly obviously autistic, he does this without regard to society's view of the appropriateness of the subject. He has never even been accused of any untoward conduct whatsoever.
He's really just a computer nerd version of Zizec when you get down to it.

i'm not surprised to see the usual suspects like gnome, red hat/ibm, mozilla and debian plastered all over this list or people like coraline ada ehmke and liz fong-jones: i am surprised to see names like freedos and the pepper & carrot guy popping up, i don't see them gaining anything from this other than protection from the foss twitterati? kinda disappointing tbh. it is awfully nice of these people though to include their names on a comprehensive list of bugmen
