Diseased Open Source Software Community - it's about ethics in Code of Conducts

i personally know several people who applied to Canonical and were passed over after weeks of grueling interviews and tests, but this faggot pedo gets hired and supported by canonical. wonderful. glad we live in this world.

I wonder if there's a separate, easier and streamlined process for sexual offenders to apply 🙂

>erm he did his time
Sex offenders shouldn't be treated like someone who robbed a store.

...
It's not surprising, but sometimes you wonder why more people aren't catching onto this in the regular world.
Do you really expect the tech press to report on this? They always protect their own.
The other Linux content creators like Michael Tunnell or Brodie won't say shit either but they will happily shit on the XLibre project.

The broader issue here is in what to do with people like him.

You're doing society a disservice when you separate his "personal life" from his "professional life" without resolving the fact that he poses a threat first.
His existence is being supported by the company that hires him and through that he is being enabled to continue being a threat. So if he does something horrible, Canonical would be partially liable.

However, banning him from ever getting hired implies that he should be killed through starving to death, which is weird, wouldn't it make more sense just to euthanize him then? We basically offload that moral dilemma from the collective to hirers. And as we can see Canonical has made a decision.

Maybe the trve solution is to have people like him castrated? That's when separating his "personal life" from his "professional life" starts making more sense.
That's the same argument the woketards make against who they call Nazis (anyone more sane than them). It's the argument they use to legitimize harassing their employers to get them fired, and to legitimize their anti hate speech and anti-antisemitism laws. I don't want a religious zealotry to become mainstream on the right wing, because then censorship and oppression will continue, just the sides will get switched and now all the same tactics used against the right wing will get used against the left wing, and there are some sane voices in the left wing too, and freedom of speech, thought and expression is important.
The idea that a company that hires a person should be liable for all the things he does in his personal life is insane. Things would stop functioning completely if people held companies liable for the actions of their employees in their personal life. If he breaks any laws he should get prosecuted by the justice system, if someone doesn't like him they can talk about him irl or on the Internet. It must not be possible for mob rule to influence a person's job. Because that's basically what you get, a mob rule, when the mob or cult decides you're persona non grata all the mob companies must disassociate with you and refuse you business, and then you starve.

That is the most autistic corpo response I've ever fucking heard to hiring a chomo. What???
In the actual sense of the word. Legitimately only autists would think there's nothing wrong with not only platforming a guy that molested his sister, but not fire him and erase every trace of his existence because his crimes aren't relates to his software dev job. Sex crimes and crimes involving death and/or obscene amounts of violence are the type of shit you don't want tainting your company's reputation, yet they act like he fucking had an embarassing picture taken. Like what the fuck? Canonical is a demonic company.

I need recommendations for Linux distros that work well it ROS and NVIDIA. I think I'm done with Ubuntu.

Do you think there is any difference in scale and gravity between saying nigger on the Internet and habitually molesting and raping multiple children? Just curious. I personally think there is a meaningful difference between those two things. That's my opinion.

the sides will get switched
I think the samesideism cannot be invoked when you moving on spectrum to righteousness from whatever is the opposite of righteousness.
It's the same way with violence - some is bad, some is good when it's for the right cause.

freedom of speech, thought and expression is important
I never mentioned those things, but sure

The idea that a company that hires a person should be liable for all the things he does in his personal life
No, when I said "liable", I meant that from the moral standpoint.

Maybe if they'd not been so lazy and shown the industriousness to rape children not once, not dozens of times, not hundreds of times, but over 9,000 times, they'd have gotten the job.

Literally: "so we're OK with child rape, but don't you fucking dare rape a COMPUTER"- Canonical, probably.

As for your recommendations, brother, Linux is pozzed as fuck with troons and apparently child rapists. Just use Windows like the rest of the world.

Ok, let's take is as given that they're equivalent situations. The man "did his time" for repeatedly raping his sister, so he's got a right to be left alone. It is, however, inevitable that people will be angry about the fact that he raped his teenage sister multiple times and he must be aware of that possibility.

In that situation, should he:

1) keep his head down, avoid visibility, stay as quiet as possible, and avoid placing himself in any situation where his past will come back to haunt him, or
2) make a spectacle of himself on the internet by needlessly inserting himself into a politically charged debate that has a great deal of public visibility

The fact is, he brought this on himself, regardless of whether or not we should treat him with "respect" or whatever. He tried to use his position within Canonical as a club to beat down someone for their opinions about something. He cannot now complain - nor should anyone else on his behalf complain - about being "cancelled". He is simply facing the same sort of treatment he attempted to mete out to someone else.

What if I told you Microsoft gives money to employees to troon out minors.

His sex offender status is litterally the first thing that comes up when you search his name.

UNDER 12? I thought it might have been something like "I was 20 and she was at a party and I thought she was 18 but she was really 16" I mean, obviously that's still bad, but not "immediate execution and buried in a mass grave" bad. You can see how someone, especially an autistic computer programmer, would give someone like that a chance but this is beyond the pale. Even if you were a totally indifferent, unfeeling psychopath you would know better than hiring someone like that onto your team.

it gets worse, my friend. :c

I found a piece from 2013 dealing with wider issues of CSA and mandatory reporting that gets into the nuts and bolts of what he was convicted of.

In short, he was 12-15 when he was doing the abuse, but, the abuse was so bad, and because his parents not only knew about it but didn't punish him for it, his sisters reported him to authorities when he was 26 because they heard he and his wife were considering having children.
