Theo's a fag but the smarmy probably zoomer running the ffmpeg twitter account is arguably as bad. Genuine adults being passive aggressive sodomites over software programs. If he wasn't such an honest to god retard he could have maybe had a semblance of a valid argument in this video, but he has to throw around his money in a weaksauce offer like it means jack shit, basically just posturing for his audience. Tech sloptubers are living breathing organized cancer cells.

Who hasn't already? Lunduke has a pretty vocal hatebase of people who hate watch his vids and read his journal just to be mad about him 24/7.
There are plenty of people that have a grudge. But when this faggot does. He makes insufferable youtube videos, and cries on twitter about it. And much like a movie refuses to ever change his mind. Doubles down, has the complete inability to see when he's wrong.

You can see it coming through in his responses to Lunduke. Who was asking a pretty simple question.

With his responding with "will you just shut up, what do you want me to do?" Paraphrasing there. His actual response in my opinion is actually worse. The most smug reddit brained person I know of in tech.

I think I like him less than Drew Devault, because at least Devault makes it extremely clear how much if a faggot he is as soon as anyone sees him. Also Devault at least wasn't an apple tech bro working for twitch.

i think devault has actually made more positive contributions to free software than theo
i literally cannot name a single piece of software, good or not, that theo ever wrote. meanwhile drew at least made a mid-tier wayland compositor and a minimalist slop version of gnu savannah
as much of a gay little bitch as drew is, he is undeniably a decent programmer. he has even written an operating system kernel in his own programming language. i would love to see theo try writing a compiler frontend and a kernel. i bet he could only barely manage getting a bare metal serial hello world running in c, if at all
fuck theo i hope that one day he becomes as much of a laughingstock as his butt buddy, the Greater Ferret-Piss Roach of Dire Maul

This is completely unrelated to the topic at hand (though fuck Theo, jsniggers need to be niggerwhipped to death) but I cannot stand this particular brand of redditry where the guy making the video insists on putting his faggot face into the thumbnail. "OOOOUGGGHHH these guys on Twitter are being RUDE so I'm going to put myself LOOKING CONFUSED IN THE THUMBNAIL!!!" Fuck off. Kill yourself.

The open source community has an epidemic of these losers who exist solely to try and subvert and destroy people who are doing actually useful work; in ffmpeg's case, work that touches millions or even billions of people. They need to be eradicated.
Redditbrain is a serious problem, especially in tech. Its offshots with troons and smug atheists/marxists/what have you are easily noticeable. I know how you feel.

I'm glad I use MPV.

Python faggots turning down funding because "do not break federal law" is apparently a blocker.

Basically, grants were conditioned on : Don't do these things that are "in violation of Federal anti-discrimination laws."
You would think that would be a pretty reasonable requirement that no one would have any issues following. But not in python land apparently.

I was actually confused as to what the fuck they could possibly be doing that would run them afoul of that, and yeah it is trannies/DEI.
We were honored when, after many months of work, our proposal was recommended for funding, particularly as only 36% of new NSF grant applicants are successful on their first attempt. We became concerned, however, when we were presented with the terms and conditions we would be required to agree to if we accepted the grant. These terms included affirming the statement that we “do not, and will not during the term of this financial assistance award, operate any programs that advance or promote DEI, or discriminatory equity ideology in violation of Federal anti-discrimination laws.” This restriction would apply not only to the security work directly funded by the grant, but to any and all activity of the PSF as a whole. Further, violation of this term gave the NSF the right to “claw back” previously approved and transferred funds. This would create a situation where money we’d already spent could be taken back, which would be an enormous, open-ended financial risk.

Diversity, equity, and inclusion are core to the PSF’s values, as committed to in our mission statement:

The mission of the Python Software Foundation is to promote, protect, and advance the Python programming language, and to support and facilitate the growth of a diverse and international community of Python programmers.
Given the value of the grant to the community and the PSF, we did our utmost to get clarity on the terms and to find a way to move forward in concert with our values. We consulted our NSF contacts and reviewed decisions made by other organizations in similar circumstances, particularly The Carpentries.

In the end, however, the PSF simply can’t agree to a statement that we won’t operate any programs that “advance or promote” diversity, equity, and inclusion, as it would be a betrayal of our mission and our community.

I saw the r/linux thread on this and was just blown away at some of the stupid shit people were saying. It's amazing at how much of their discourse is them pretending to not understand anything.

So making the software better depends on tranny race quotas apparently. What a fucking load of shit.

One would hope it would be something related to "blatant" discrimination against of everyone against everyone and they wanted true equality (as if... 🌈)
But as you said it, it is the cancer that keeps killing /b/ tech that is BRIDGE/DEI/Whatever.

Those are weaselwords by the python faggots.

Technically, this does not stop or ban them from running such programs.
They are fine running such programs as long as they do not run them in such a way that it is "in violation of Federal anti-discrimination laws."

Python: Can we have some federal grant money?
Gov: Sure, how does 1.5M sound? Just don't break federal law while spending it.
Python: This is unacceptable.

this is overall a good development. $1.5m can be used in many other ways than "improving" python (whatever that means). i feel like python (the language) is pretty much already what it's going to be forever and cpython (the reference implementation) is in a pretty similar situation

If trannies are calling for master-slave technology to be renamed due to it provoking "pro-slavery ideology and the eradication of Black rights", then how about we make fun of their ideology by making something involving literal master-slave technology: The slave is forced to do all the work while the master does nothing as its a shell program, but the master can also punish the slave by denying access to the master program for providing faulty results.
Just to make it icing on the cake, the masters are referred to be black and the slaves to be white, because slavery is good if the right people are doing it.
so like Docker?

Couple thoughts come to mind. First: If DEI is their mission that really doesn't sound like a charitable mission. The IRS should re-examine their 501(c)(3) status accordingly.

Second: If PSF is actually making software then they're engaged in product development which directly violates their status as a 501(c)(3) organization, opening them up to revocation of that status, imposition of (back) taxes on their earnings, and fines... so the IRS should re-examine their 501(c)(3) status accordingly.

In short: Based IRSchads should do the funniest thing ever.

Such as obliterating all propriejeet web apps and having them forcefully rewritten in GNU Artanis.

Speaking of which does anyone know if Dropbox and Google Drive etc give a fuck if you put up pirated movies and only share extremely selectively? I often want to pop stuff up to share with family/friends but worry they'll ban my account for it. I had a web hosting account get banned because they simply detected mp3 files like 2 decades ago so I'm careful.

Asking in the OSS thread about closed source demon companies because I'm a Chad.
Try using CopyParty

mpv seems sort of nice but i have never heard of it being used to play anything other than tranime. wasted potential?
MPV supports HDR, so I'll be using it to watch everything. It supports Youtube and Twitch protocol along with Sponsor skipping and Advertisement skipping. The only thing VLC does better is DVD's, I wish MPV would have a DVD-menu protocol and a protocol of going through chapters/intro's instead of just playing the regular film. (If you know of a way to enable this on MPV, let me know!)

Also, official CDs (or audio files in general with integrated album artwork) with albums don't get shown its album artwork in MPV but it does work fine on VLC, I've tried some scripts but to no avail, so I'd love to see that work in MPV as well.

I don't have that many gripes with MPV, it's a great piece of software, but it just lacks in some critical aspects for me.

VLC's UI is genuinely ugly, MPV's is so much cleaner.

Show me you're software from WinXP without telling me you're from WinXP.

Having a face in the thumbnail boosts (or at least used to boost) your ranking in the slop algorithm. That's why everyone is doing it.
It's such a genuine gripe of mine to see some fucktard's disgusting, malajusted face on a thumbnail. Does it seem like I give a flying fuck about what you look like? No, I want some interesting content, not some off-bred, incest-laden piece of shit soying over whatever the fuck's in the back of them. I have had video's where the content would mildly interest me but then I click "DO NOT RECOMMEND" because some pedo-stashed, disgusting cunt is on the thumbnail pointing and soying out.

Every single fucking YouTube channel gets worse after they show their face, every single one. "Do a face reveal!" Why?? Why does your asocial piece-of-shit life need the requirement of knowing what he looks like? To feel an intimate connection with someone you'll never-ever meet? To feel better about your ugly mug? -- And after they've done a glorious "face-reveal" they just go on and put their absolute tumor of a face in every, single, fucking, video, as if it's a beginning-2010 Let's Play where you HAVE TO put a facecam in the corner for your epic-lol-random reaction to a floating PNG coming to you in a 'spooky' video game. So not only do I have to look at a cancer in form that resembles a facial structure, I have to endure the prolonged worsening of content.

Showing your face after not having done so beforehand is like the spawn of a tumor that grows into the cancer of a channel.
