It's beyond silly to jump on a single CVE in Rust code like it's some sort of a gotcha when it's next to 159 fucking CVEs in C, and that's even with safe mode turned off. Grasping at straws doesn't begin to describe it. Yes, rust in safe mode eliminates entire classes of problems. It's not up for discussion because it's mathematically guaranteed as long certain invariants known ahead of time are preserved. You have no such choice in most other languages.

To be fair, I get suspicious whenever someone keeps referring to people as 'humans' in text or speech. Since it usually means they're from a clique that thinks itself more rational and scientific about its irrational beliefs; and such a person is usually out to ratfuck you. Excessive use of female indicates the same thing: an affectation of being 'above' the subject matter and at enough of a 'distance' to see the topic in its entirety. Which is an odd/incel position to take on the subject, given that most men would like to be inside a woman, not 100km in orbit above her.

As an outsider I find this profoundly indicative of what is really going on. Trannies are the thralls of corporate power and using a new language to get around legal obstacles is reason enough for the rich and powerful to hammer the tranny-edge of the wedge into all your FOSS projects.

Like I said before, it doesn't matter. All of the buzz about rust has been that using it prevents memory problems. All the marketing, all the demands to push it into the kernel, all the RIIR bullshit, all of it is premised on "rust prevents memory bugs", repeated ad nauseam by morons and cargo-cultists who want a quick fix to make up for their poor skills, or who just want to stop thinking. It doesn't matter if the language is actually pretty neat, or that in the hands of a good developer it can be faster and more efficient than C. It doesn't matter that the problem was code inside a necessary 'unsafe' declaration. It doesn't matter. Rust was pushed into the kernel because "memory safe!" and yet some of its very first CVEs are memory corruption bugs. It is a perfect demonstration that no amount of language features can prevent a bad software engineer from making catastrophic mistakes, with the corollary that more "safety features" actually results in more bugs, as developers stop trying to spot problems the safety features "fix".

It's even funnier when you consider what they're marketing themselves as. Rust gets pushed everywhere because companies want retards to be able to work on systems-level software. A lot like Google's Go and their interns. It's cheaper, people are more replaceable and you can shift a lot of upfront work to pre-made crates (then endlessly play the blame game when shit breaks). In short, please hire me:
  • I'm retarded, just like Rakshit and Sukdeep.
  • I'm cheap, fuck me and I'll keep working.
  • MIT/BSD and latest industry standards, I would never, ever do something corporations won't like.

These all come from upstream Coreboot. There is no fucking reason to use Libreboot over plain Coreboot on Kaby Lake machines.

True enough, I guess Libreboot is slightly easier to implement. Just running lbmk seems simpler than finding stock ME / flash chip firmware > manually using deguard +me_cleaner > manually building coreboot > flashing chip ; I've only ever used Libreboot myself, but I do want to give the manual Coreboot approach a try now that X280s are supported. Fucking hate pomona clips, all of them are chinknesium no matter which type you buy, the shitty 5$ black ones or the expensive 30$ blue ones, both are trash. I seethe in rage every time I see videos of people just clipping it and it working without them having to finagle the clip or press it down so hard it makes the board bend. At this point I am convinced that glowies are running a psyop by only shipping me dogshit clips all the fucking time.
